Niudaokou town

Baodi District governs the town. It is located at the northwest end of the District, bordering Chaoxia street and shigezhuang town in the East and south, Xianghe County in Hebei Province in the west, Jixian County and Sanhe City in Hebei Province across the river by Jue River in the north. It covers an area of 72 square kilometers. The resident population was 50129 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 23 administrative villages. The town government is located in niudaokou village, 9 kilometers away from Baodi city. In 2001, Baodi District government withdrew the township and merged the town, and merged the former niudaokou Township with the neighboring Zhaogezhuang town into niudaokou town.

Historical evolution

Zhaogezhuang township was established in 1958, and Zhaogezhuang commune was changed in the same year. Niudaokou commune was established in 1961. In 1983, it was changed to Zhaogezhuang Township and niudaokou township. In 1996, Zhaogezhuang Township covers an area of 30 square kilometers and has a population of 24000. It governs 10 administrative villages, including Zhenggezhuang, ruijiazhuang, Zhaogezhuang, Panggezhuang, lugezhuang, Gaogezhuang, lisandian, lijiagoutou, Tangtou and Yicheng. Niudaokou Township covers an area of 36 square kilometers and has a population of 22000. It governs niudaokou, jiaoshansi, jiucaizhuang, Huangshawu, gaojiashen, qujiashen, guojiashen, Yuejiazhuang and xiajiazhuang There are 12 administrative villages in Wuzhuang, laogaozhai, jialiangzhuang and Xisizhuang. In 2001, Zhaogezhuang town and niudaokou Township were abolished and niudaokou town was merged.

The town government is located in niudaokou village. Now there is one senior high school (lijiashen senior high school), two middle schools (niudaokou No.1 middle school and No.2 Middle School (former Zhaogezhuang middle school)) and an economic and Technological Development Zone (located in the east of niudaokou village, close to Baoping highway and Beijing Shenyang Expressway). Niudaokou police station is located one kilometer east of niudaokou village.

Famous people

Goutou village and pangezhuang village are the two largest natural villages in Baodi District. Goutou village is the hometown of Ma Yongshun, the first generation of tree fellers and afforestation hero in New China. Ma Yongshun died in 2000 at the age of 87. To commemorate his deeds, Ma Yongshun memorial hall was built in the northeast of the village, next to which 87 mu of Populus tomentosa was planted. Ma Yongshun is the first generation of logging workers in New China and a famous model figure in the history of the Republic. 50 years ago, he was a national famous tree cutting hero; 50 years later, he is a famous tree planting model. In 1948, Ma Yongshun came to Tieli Forestry Bureau of northeast forest region alone, and actively participated in the development and construction of new socialist forest region. With a good vision of building a new China, he cut wood by hand. He completed the workload of six people by himself, and created the highest yield of manual cutting in China. He summed up and created "safe logging law" and "four seasons file sawing law", which became the national manual logging textbooks and made indelible contributions to China's economic construction. He has been cordially received by Chairman Mao Zedong and other party and state leaders for many times, and has won the honorary titles of city, province and national labor model for many times. After retiring, he always kept in mind Premier Zhou's instruction of "planting trees well to realize the constant presence of green mountains". He took the initiative to go up the mountain for afforestation and "repay the debt". He was determined to replant all the trees cut in the past in his lifetime. From 1983 to the end of 1999, he persisted in afforestation for 17 years and led his family to plant more than 50000 trees, leaving a green mountain for the motherland.
