Chuoer River Farm
Chuoer river farm is located in Northeast China, about 200 li away from Zhalantun. It is under the management of Hailaer farm Administration Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The farm is surrounded by mountains, which is named after the chuoer river.
In June 2007, I went back to the farm from the United States to visit my mother and relatives and friends there. The mountains and rivers were still clean and moving. The farm was founded around 1970 by demobilized soldiers. There are nine production teams. When I was in primary school, there were many educated youth going to the countryside. The farm was very busy all year round. After the educated youth returned to the city, the farm became much more desolate.
