Ancient town

Ancient town, belonging to Keshan County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the west of Keshan County, on the North Bank of Wuyuer, bordering Keshan town in the East, Xihe town and Taidong township of Yi'an County in the west, Shuanghe town across the river in the South and Gubei Township in the north, with a total administrative area of 211.65 square kilometers.

In 1938, Gucheng village was established, and in April 1984, Gucheng people's commune was transformed into an ancient town. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in ancient towns was 29439. In 2019, Gucheng will have one community and nine administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the town people's government will be stationed in the Ankang Committee.

In 2018, there were 19 industrial enterprises in Gucheng, including one above scale and 15 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

In the early days of the Republic of China, the area where the ancient town was located was under the jurisdiction of the first district of Keshan County, known as "well 34".

In 1930, an ancient town was set up.

After the fall of Northeast China (1931), railway stations were built in ancient towns, and the population gradually thickened.

In 1935, the puppet Manchuria set up a police station.

In 1938, Gucheng village was established.

In 1946, it was the 11th district of Keshan County.

In April 1956, it belongs to the ancient city area.

In April 1956, Gucheng Township and Minzhu Township were merged to establish Gucheng township.

In September 1958, it was renamed Gucheng people's commune.

In April 1984, Gucheng people's commune was transformed into an ancient town.

By the end of 2011, Gucheng had nine villagers' committees: Rixin, Gucheng, Jianguo, Minhe, Xinjiang, Minzhu, Guoxing, Juncheng and Zhicheng.

In 2019, Gucheng will have one community and nine administrative villages: Zhenzhi first community, Rixin village, Juncheng village, Gucheng village, Jianguo village, Minhe village, Xinlong village, Minzhu village, Guoxing village and Zhicheng village. The people's Government of Gucheng is stationed in the health and Safety Commission.

History and culture

Name and origin

Before 1901, zhuolona, a Manchu, built a small castle in the territory. In 1911, some people came here to reclaim the land. They saw piles of bricks and stones and the old site of the city wall, which is more than two meters high. During the reclamation, ancient copper coins and iron ware were excavated near the castle, so it was named "the ancient city".
