Datian Polu nature reserve; Datian National Nature Reserve

There were only 26 Po deer in Datian Po Deer Nature Reserve before its establishment. After more than 20 years of protection and cultivation, nearly 2000 have been developed. Hainan Po deer is one of the most precious deer species in China. It is listed as the first class of national protected animals with giant panda and golden monkey. In 1986, the area was upgraded to a National Nature Reserve in China, about 20 kilometers away from Dongfang City, Hainan Province. Hainan Island is the only producing area of Polu in China.

Datianpolu Nature Reserve was established in May 1976 and upgraded to National Nature Reserve in 1986.
