Jiangkou Town is a national demonstration pilot town and a famous cultural town in Fujian Province. In October 2019, Jiangkou Town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Region profile

Jiangkou Town is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China. Li Wenzheng, Huang Tingfang, Lin Dexiang and other representative overseas Chinese leaders emerged. According to incomplete statistics, since the reform and opening up, overseas Chinese in Jiangkou Town have donated 480 million yuan to support their hometown's public welfare.

The town has a national high-tech Industrial Development Zone Putian national high tech Industrial Development Zone. In 2012, the State Council approved the upgrading of Putian high tech Industrial Park to the national high tech Industrial Development Zone. So far, there are four national high-tech zones in Fujian, namely Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou and Putian.

Putian high tech Industrial Park is a provincial-level high-tech industrial park approved by the provincial government in June 2002 and approved by the State Council in 2005. It is one of the eight characteristic industrial parks of electronic information industry that are supported and cultivated in Fujian during the "Tenth Five Year Plan" and "Eleventh Five Year Plan".

It has been recognized as Putian liquid crystal display industry base of national torch plan, Putian demonstration base of Sino Russian science and technology cooperation, national high-tech industrialization base, etc. Gathering three leading industries of electronic information, machinery manufacturing, shoe leather and clothing, we have formed three industrial chains of electronic calculators, small and medium-sized liquid crystal displays and new electronic components. Historical evolution

In the Song Dynasty, Jiangkou was established as Yingxian city (now outside Shishi Village), with Yingxian post (called Dai hotel in Tang Dynasty) and Yingxian bridge, belonging to Dai Xianli, Tang'an Township, Putian County. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913 AD), the county designated Jiangkou as the seventh district and set up the district office.

Jiangkou was liberated on August 20, 1949, and Putian County was liberated on August 21, 1949. In September, the seventh district people's government was established in Jiangkou, located in shiting. In 1958, Jiangkou was incorporated into Hanjiang people's commune. In 1965, Jiangkou people's commune was established. In 1983, the people's commune in Jiangkou was transformed into a township system. In October 1984, Jiangkou township was changed into Jiangkou Town. In 1996, it was designated by the national development and Reform Commission as a pilot town for the comprehensive reform of small towns in China. On May 1, 2002, with the approval of the State Council, the division of Putian City was adjusted again, and Jiangkou Town was incorporated into the jurisdiction of Hanjiang District.

Jiangkou Town is located in the east coast of Putian City, which belongs to Hanjiang District. It is adjacent to the east of Xincuo town in Putian County in the East, Xinghua Bay in the south, Wutang town in the west, and Gulu town and Xincuo town in the north. There is suanxi in the territory. Jiangkou Town is the north gate of Putian City in name, but the north gate of Putian is Xincuo town in fact.

Putian County borders on the northeast. For thousands of years, it has been at least bordered on Fuqing by the east section of Suanling in the north of Xincuo town in Putian County. Since the establishment of Putian County, Xincuo area has belonged to Putian County, where tens of thousands of Putian people have lived since ancient times. Putian dialect has been used since ancient times and is a part of Putian dialect area. Xincuo town was assigned to Fuqing in 1956 because Fuqing wanted to develop industry. The original Putian County Wenxiu Township sutianli, anxianli, Ming Dynasty cut to Fuqing County, is now Fuqing Yuxi Town West, Dongzhang Town West. Near the new town, there is a blessing Putian Dongyue view, which is jointly built by Putian residents, Putian people and Xianyou people in Fuqing registered residence. The Putian town of Xinxian County has new village, and most of the new town still uses Putian dialect. It is part of Putian dialect area, located at the Northeast end of Putian, and is the Northeast gate of Putian. A large number of villages in the West and east of some townships still use Putian dialect. These people are actually Putian people, not Fuqing people: the same situation is also found in Yidu Town, which has been subordinate to Yongtai County since ancient times. In 1958, it was also assigned to Fuqing because of the development of industry and agriculture in Fuqing. Yidu town people are actually Yongtai people, while Xincuo town people and Yidu town people can only be nominally superficial Fuqing people.

The original Putian County of sutianli, anxianli, Ming Dynasty cut to Fuqing county. Xincuo town can go directly to Putian through National Highway 324 and Hanjiang railway station nearby through National Highway 324 in a few minutes (turn right at the intersection of Hanjiang railway station station front road and National Highway 324, or take National Highway 324 to cross the bridge connecting the two towns, then turn right to enter industrial street or Jinxiu North Street for more than 100 meters, then turn left for hundreds of meters, then turn right for tens of meters) Jiang District Railway Station). Putian County was established in 568, while Fuqing county was established more than 130 years later. Putian County was not established by dividing it from Fuqing county. On the contrary, some places in the West and south of Fuqing county were separated from Putian County. Therefore, it is nominally located in the southwest of Fuqing City, connected with the original Xincuo town by mountains and rivers, bordering Xinghua Bay in the East, and the "jiuliyang" plain in the middle, which is a part of Xinghua plain. It is located in the North Bank of Mulan River Estuary, east of Putian southeast coast Xinghua Bay and Taiwan Strait. National Highway 324 and Fuzhou Xiamen Expressway run through, and the port can be connected with seagoing vessels. In the north, there are Nangshan, Damaoshan and Suanling, the first peaks of Hanjiang District at an altitude of 639 meters. Two major streams in the territory: beigulu stream and suanxi stream intersect and flow into Xinghua Bay. Although Xincuo town is under the jurisdiction of Fuqing at present, except mianting and Donglou villages in the north are assimilated by Fuqing dialect, most villages in Xincuo town use Xinghua dialect (Puxian dialect; Putian dialect). Many registered residence primary school in Fuqing, Putian dialect, is located in Putian Jinjiang primary school and Po ban overseas Chinese middle school, Jiangkou primary school and Jiangkou overseas Chinese primary school, located at a few hundred meters across the bridge.

Jiangkou Town is located in the subtropical zone, four seasons like spring. It is a subtropical marine monsoon climate with annual average temperature of 20.2 ℃, maximum temperature of 37 ℃ (July), minimum temperature of 2 ℃ (January), annual average rainfall of 1500 mm and abundant rainfall. Jiangkou Town has convenient transportation. Fuxia highway and Fuxia Expressway (part of Tongsan Expressway) pass through the town. Cement road leads to 27 administrative villages in Jiangkou Town, with a total of 6-40m wide standardized cement road of 30km, forming a crisscross and convenient transportation network.

Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, a street in the town was less than 200 meters long and only 3 meters wide. There were only 18 low and shabby shops in Zhongting street. During the period of the Republic of China, there were blockhouse reinforced concrete buildings in Daling village of Dongmen.
