Suncun Town, subordinate to Fanchang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, covers an area of 154 square kilometers (2017), governs 20 villages and 3 communities, with a permanent resident population of 55510 (2017). With convenient transportation, rich mineral resources and obvious location advantages, Renzi cave, a famous early human activity site in Eurasia, is located in the town.

On July 28, 2017, Suncun town was selected as the second batch of small towns with Chinese characteristics. On May 24, 2018, Suncun town was selected as one of the top 50 small towns with the most beautiful characteristics. In October 2019, Suncun town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

General situation

Suncun town is 40 kilometers southwest of Wuhu City, 8 kilometers away from Fanchang County. It covers an area of 154 square kilometers (2017), with 55510 permanent residents (2017) and more than 8000 foreign workers. It has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 21 administrative villages. Ningtong railway and Wuhu Tongling highway run through the territory. Huanghu River is navigable from Dagang to the Yangtze River. There are 2.2 million-2.4 million year old sites of historical relics, such as the "shiguigu cave" and the "three branches of the new Huadan" National Park.

Historical evolution

Suncun commune was established in 1958, Huanghu commune and Chisha commune were established in 1961, Suncun Township, Huanghu Township and Chisha Township were changed in 1984, and Suncun and Huanghu Township were changed into towns in 1994. In 1996, Suncun Town, with an area of 64.4 square kilometers and a population of 22000, governed 11 administrative villages including Changsi, Changlong, Lishan, Jiulian, TIANLIAN, meichong, Shuikou, fengdun, Longhua, Jinling and Sanliang, and Qiaoxi neighborhood committee; Huanghu Town, with an area of 37.2 square kilometers and a population of 16000, governed 9 administrative villages including Dachong, Yixing, Tuanshan, Ganding, Jiangcun, Wangyang, Wanli, Qiancun and Shunfeng, and Huanghu town Chisha Township covers an area of 54.5 square kilometers and has a population of 17000. It has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages including Bafen, Zhongfen, Gaoqiao, Zhangtang, Chisha, daiqiao, Daitan, daiting, Wanchong and jiubianwei, as well as the neighborhood committee of Chishen town. In December 2003, Huanghu town and Chisha Township were abolished and merged into Suncun town.

Suncun town has developed transportation. Roads crisscross the town. High grade highways along the river pass through the city. The Shanghai copper railway passes through the whole town and there is a freight station within the town. It is only 2 km away from the city and close to the golden waterway of the Yangtze River. With the completion of Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge and fengdun railway marshalling station, the transportation of roads, railways and waterways in the town extends in all directions, forming a national trunk road and a town road Transportation network.

According to the planning goal, by 2005, we will strengthen the connection between the town's external transportation facilities and the town's roads, improve the comprehensive efficiency of the town's highway network, and the total mileage of the highway will reach 80 km. By 2010, we will basically realize the transportation network implemented according to the planning, and the total mileage of the highway will reach 100 km.

Climate products

Sun village is surrounded by mountains on three sides and a Polder on the West. It is a hilly terrain in the south of the Yangtze River. Maren Qifeng scenic spot in the south of the town is a famous tourist spot in the south of Anhui Province. It is located in the subtropical zone with mild climate, four distinct seasons, sufficient light and long frost free period, belonging to the monsoon subtropical humid climate. It is the main grain producing area in our county. Rice, oil, fish and shrimp, lotus root and other agricultural and sideline products sell well in the north and south of the country. The territory is rich in mineral resources, including iron, coal, zeolite ore, bentonite, limestone, etc.

Suncun town is home to 256 million years ago ancient human early activity sites, national key cultural relics protection unit - "Renzi cave", national "AAAA" scenic spot - marenqiefeng Forest Park, the former site of the headquarters of the third detachment of the New Fourth Army and other natural attractions.

History and culture

Suncun town has a long history and outstanding people. Since ancient times, there have been a lot of people and culture, including the Xianyuan chapter of the Song Dynasty, the imperial envoy Wu Chen of the Ming Dynasty, and the patriotic general Huang Degong of the Southern Ming Dynasty. During the Anti Japanese War, Fanchang County was the main anti Japanese base. The third detachment of the New Fourth Army led by general Tan Zhenlin was stationed in Bafen village. The third detachment of the New Fourth Army and the Japanese aggressors launched the famous "tangkouba bloody battle" in meichong village. The splendid ancient civilization has left historical footprints on the rich land of Suncun. A large number of Neolithic pottery and bronzes have been unearthed.

Since 1998, Anhui research group of National Ninth Five Year "Climbing" project has excavated early primate fossils and a large number of mammal fossils in Renzi cave of manglishan, Suncun Town, and found stone tools and bone artifacts with artificial marks. According to the identification of Paleolithic archaeologists at home and abroad, these stone and bone artifacts belong to the early renewal period, 2.5 million years ago, which is the earliest human activity site found in Eurasia.

Over the years, Suncun town has adhered to the principle of "Enriching Farmers with industry". By the end of 2007, there were nearly 200 enterprises in the town, including 52 Enterprises above Designated Size and 15000 employees, including more than 2000 business workers from other places. The average net income of farmers was nearly 2900 yuan. By the end of 2003, the town level fiscal and tax income was nearly 45 million yuan. Economic development has promoted the prosperity of small towns. The market town covers an area of 1.5 square kilometers and has a population of 9000 people. The town has complete power supply, water supply, roads, communications, cable TV, hospitals, schools and other facilities. Suncun town was awarded the honorary titles of "national advanced unit for building civilized villages and towns" and "national advanced town for building villages and towns" respectively by the Central Committee of civilization and the Ministry of construction of the people's Republic of China.

Industry Overview

After more than ten years of self accumulation and rolling development, the foreign trade garment industry of Suncun town has developed from simple processing to all foreign trade orders. Its products are all over the world. It has become the largest foreign trade garment production and processing base in Anhui Province. Suncun Garment Industrial Park began to be built in February 2002. Suncun garment industrial park is located in garment processing industry and auxiliary enterprises supporting garment processing, such as textile, packaging, thread making, bleaching and dyeing. Enterprises entering the park enjoy "five links and one leveling" and a good public security environment. The overall planning and construction land of Suncun garment industrial park is 3000 mu.

By the end of 2008, 1079 mu of land has been expropriated, with a total investment of 9.6 million yuan. There are 21 enterprises entering the park. The total planned investment of all enterprises entering the park is 100 million yuan, with a total investment of 58.86 million yuan. 11 enterprises have been built and put into operation one after another, with export delivery value of 68.1 million yuan, warehousing tax of 5.71 million yuan, providing 1965 jobs.

Traffic construction

S321 provincial road runs through the center of the town, and the completed Fanchang west station of Ning'an intercity railway is located in fengdun village of the town, which was officially put into use on December 6, 2015.
