Kangqiao town is located in the northwest of Pudong New Area, adjacent to Hengmian town in the East, Zhoupu town in the south, Beicai town and Sunqiao town in Pudong New Area in the north, and Chenhang town and Sanlin Town in Minhang District in the West. There are two tourist attractions in Kangqiao Town: Yiwang temple, Taoist temple and old house in Pudong. The town center is located at 121 ° 34'24 "E and 31 ° 9'19" n.

Historical evolution

Kangqiao town was originally established on November 3, 1961. With the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's Committee, the Zhouxi people's commune was established by setting aside some production teams from Zhoupu people's commune. Because it is located in the west of Zhoupu to the edge of Huangpu River (including the area under the jurisdiction of today's Pujiang town), it is named Kangqiao town.

In April 1984, the government and society were divided into Zhouxi township.

In April 1990, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council decided to develop and open Pudong. A total of 8 square kilometers of land in five villages in Kangqiao area in the north of Zhouxi Township and five villages in the north of Hengmian Township in the East were included in the planned outer ring road.

In May 1992, Nanhui decided to build the above 8 square kilometers north of the outer ring road into Kangqiao Industrial Zone in Pudong, Shanghai.

In August 1994, with the approval of the municipal government, it was upgraded to a municipal industrial zone, and the planning area was expanded to 26 square kilometers. With the approval of the municipal government, Zhouxi township was renamed Kangqiao town because of the development of Kangqiao Industrial Zone in recent years.

In 1997, it had 12 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee in Zitong, Taiping, Baiqu, Lixi, xiulong, Yingfang, xiunan, Huaqiang, Kangqiao, hehe, Sanjiao and Guoyuan.

In July 2000, as a pilot unit of Nanhui administrative region adjustment, with the approval of the municipal government, Kangqiao town and Hengmian town were abolished and a new Kangqiao town was established. There were 22 neighborhood committees, 24 villages and 247 production teams, and then 12 villages and 246 production teams were abolished (139 of them were removed from land acquisition).

In 2009, the State Council approved the abolition of the original Nanhui District, which was incorporated into Pudong New Area, and Kangqiao town was also included in Pudong New Area.

The natural vegetation in Kangqiao town belongs to the middle subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest belt. The vegetation types are mainly evergreen broad-leaved and deciduous broad-leaved. It is a transitional vegetation of mixed forest belt with staggered distribution, such as seedling grass, reed, thatch grass, Artemisia, barley and so on.

Water resources

Kangqiao Town, located in the east of Huangpu River, is a tidal area of plain river network, with river ports crisscross. Before liberation, most of the rivers in the territory were narrow, curved, shallow and slow. After liberation, the Communist Party of China and the people's government attached great importance to the dredging of the river, which made the river smooth and the irrigation convenient. The main rivers in the town are Xiantang port, zikang River, chencunbang and xinbaiqu port in the north-south direction, and zhouputang, Lujiabang and Kanghua River in the east-west direction. The width of the river is generally between 16 meters and 20 meters, and the bottom depth is about 0.5 meters above Wusong zero.
