The origin of Donglin Township
When the people's Republic of China was just liberated (1949-1952), the office of the government was located in community 6 of Shiluo Village (in the former Donglin Temple). Until 1953, it moved to the side of the town (the old courtyard of Fengjia in community 3 of Tianping Village). During the great leap forward period (1955-1958), it was renamed Dongfanghong commune and Donglin Township in 1961.
Historical evolution of Donglin Township
Donglin township was established in October 1997 and served as Donglin Office of Shima town from 1992 to October 1997.
The presidium of the first and second Donglin people's Congress was elected from 1997 to 2005.
