Dayandong township is located in the south of Leibo County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, 91 kilometers away from the county government. Most parts of the township are in high mountains, which is one of the high mountain townships in the county. It covers an area of 46 square kilometers and has a population of 2000. It administers 5 village committees and 18 villager groups in Dayandong, Zhongnan, lanjiawan, cizhuping and Banpo.

On June 12, 2020, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Dayandong township.
