Haifeng town is located in the west of Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, 16 kilometers away from the city, adjacent to Sizao town in the South and facing Caoyan and shenzao towns in Dafeng district across Dingxi River in the north. Dongdu highway runs through the town from east to west, Coastal Expressway from north to south, provincial highway 333 from west to East, and famous rivers such as chuandonggang River and Dingxi River, which can run ships of more than 1000 tons, flow into the sea from the town.

Meaning of place names

During the Northern Song Dynasty, fan Gongyan built a seawall to survey the terrain. When he came here, he saw a highland in the sea and exclaimed: "this is the weir in the sea". Later, this area was called Haiyan. When he built the township in 81, it was named "Haiyan township". During the Anti Japanese War, there was a first-class organization in Haifeng, which was named "Haifeng district" from Haiyan in the north to fengyingguan in the south. In 1995, it was called "Haifeng town" to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs.

Historical evolution

In April 1981, Haiyan district was designated as Jianxiang from Sizao commune, named Haiyan Township, which has jurisdiction over 21 administrative villages. When the township was withdrawn in 1995, it was renamed "Haifeng town". In April 2000, the whole town was merged into 11 villages and one neighborhood committee. In 2001, Tuanbei village was changed into Tuanbei neighborhood committee. In 2010, Haifeng town was abolished and merged with Dongtai town.

Transportation and logistics

Haifeng town is located in the eastern suburb of Dongtai City, adjacent to Touzao town in the East, Dongtai town and Chengdong new district in the west, Sizao town in the South and Caoyan town in Dafeng district across Dingxi River in the north. 333 provincial road runs through the East and west of the town, and the Coastal Expressway passes through the town. There is an interchange at the intersection of the two roads. It's 1 hour drive from Yancheng Nanyang International Airport. Haifeng Park of Chengdong Industrial Park is built nearby. The park not only has the advantages of road traffic, but also has direct access to golden waterways such as Taidong River and Tongyu River, which can run 300 tonnage ships.

Haifeng town is rich in agricultural and sideline products. It mainly produces grain, cotton, oil, vegetables, pigs, sheep, rabbits and other agricultural and sideline products, with an annual output of more than 50 million jin of grain, more than 3 million jin of oil, more than 40000 tons of lint, more than 500000 Miao suckling pigs, more than 30000 pigs, 200000 goats and more than 2 million listed meat birds. It is a "three high" agricultural demonstration area in Jiangsu Province and a national "high quality rape production base".
