Donghe township is located in the northeast of Taidong County, Taiwan Province, with a total area of 210.1908 square kilometers. It is adjacent to the Pacific Ocean in the East, Chenggong town in the northeast, Fuli Township in Hualian County in the north, Peinan Township in the south, chishang Township, Guanshan Town and Luye Township in the West. Historical development

Donghe Township, formerly known as Mawu grottoes, means "fishing by casting nets" in AMI language. When the Qing Dynasty ruled Taiwan, Donghe was successively under the jurisdiction of peinanting and Taitung Zhili Prefecture. During the Japanese occupation period, the battle field of Dulan district was set up in 1920. In 1937, it was changed into dulanzhuang battle field, which was under the jurisdiction of Taitung tingxingang county. In 1945, it was changed into Dulan public office after the restoration of Taiwan in the Second World War Chen Qujiang, the first official head of Dulan Township in Taidong County, changed Dulan Township into Donghe Township under his own name.
