Xihe town

Xihe Town, subordinate to Yongjing County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, is located in the north of Yongjing County, adjacent to Yanguoxia town in the East, Pinggou Township in the South and West, Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County in Qinghai Province in the northwest, Huangshui River in the north and Honggu District of Lanzhou city across the river. The area is 177 square kilometers. In 2018, 12867 people registered residence.

From 1929 to 1949, it belonged to Haoyi township. On September 13, 1952, the eighth District, Xihe District, was established. In September 1958, it was transformed into Xihe commune. In August 1983, it was changed to Xihe township. In December 2001, the township was removed to build a town. In October 2019, Xihe town governs 11 administrative villages.

In 2018, there were 34 industrial enterprises in Xihe town and 4 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

From 1929 to 1949, it belonged to Haoyi township.

On September 13, 1952, the eighth District, Xihe District, was established.

In September 1958, it was transformed into Xihe commune.

In August 1983, it was changed to Xihe township.

In December 2001, the township was removed to build a town.

At the end of 2011, Xihe town had 11 villagers' committees including Chenjiawan, Baichuan, Erfang, Hongcheng, Shenwang, hongzhuangwan, Tanzi, Zhoujia, Wafang, huangcaoling and sijialing, and 69 villagers' groups.

In October 2019, Xihe town has 11 administrative villages: Baichuan village, Erfang village, Hongcheng village, Chenjiawan village, Shenwang village, hongzhuangwan village, Tanzi village, Zhoujia village, Wafang village, Huangxin village and Sijia village.

Xihe town is located in the transition zone between the Qinghai Tibet Plateau and the Loess Plateau. The terrain is divided into three types: mountain, Tableland and river. The terrain is high in the West and North, and low in the East and south. The highest point is 2850 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is 1560 meters above sea level.

The river course in Xihe town belongs to the Yellow River Basin. Huangshui River, a secondary river, is the first tributary of the Yellow River. The total length of the river is 40 kilometers. It enters from the west of Baichuan village, enters Fuchuan village of Yanguoxia town from northwest to Southeast, and joins the Yellow River at Jiaojia village.

In 2011, Xihe town had 17000 mu of arable land, 69.32 million yuan of total agricultural output value and 42.97 million yuan of agricultural added value, an increase of 5.4% over the previous year, accounting for 3.2% of GDP. Wheat and corn were the main food crops. 9330 tons of grain were produced, including 1617 tons of wheat and 7163 tons of corn. The main economic crops are vegetables and seedlings. The planting area of vegetables is 9300 Mu and the output is 16803 tons.
