Hongguang town is located in the southwest of Nanjiang County, adjacent to Changchi Town, Fujiang Town, Tianchi town, Houjia Town, xialiang town and Heitan Town, covering an area of 43.6 square kilometers. Hongguang street, where the township government is located, is 58 kilometers away from the county. Yeyangxi Zhengzhi road runs through Baishan Village, yubai village, Qingshan village and Heichi village.

On December 23, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Bazhong City to adjust the administrative divisions of some villages and towns in Bazhou District and other three counties (districts) (cfzm [2019] No. 23): the administrative area of Shizhai village in Houjia town was put under the jurisdiction of Hongguang Town, and the people's Government of Hongguang town was stationed at No. 25 guandiqiao street.

In April 2020, it will be rated as the advanced township in implementing the Rural Revitalization Strategy in Sichuan Province in 2019.

Yeyangxi Zhengzhi road runs through Baishan village, yubai village, Qingshan village and Heichi village. It is 25km away from Shahe Nanjiang section of national highway S101.

It has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages, one neighborhood committee, 60 villager groups, 4899 households, 17355 people, 11417 mu of cultivated land (8161 mu, 3256 mu) and 7592 labor forces.

Historical evolution

In the Qing Dynasty, Hongguang township was named shaxichang, belonging to Changchi township. In 1933, Changchi county was established. The CPC Changchi County Committee and the Changchi County provisional Revolutionary Committee were established. Changchi county was changed into Changchi County, with five districts under its jurisdiction and shaxichang as the second district. In 1944, Hongguang was renamed Yutang. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Fourth District Office was established in Yutang in 1952, which was abolished in February 1955. In 1958, it was renamed Hongguang people's commune. In 1984, Hongguang people's commune was changed into Hongguang Township, and Hongguang Township People's government was established. in December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province approved Nanjiang County of Bazhong City to put the administrative area of Shizhai village in Houjia town under the jurisdiction of Hongguang Town, which is located at 25 guandiqiao street.
