Gaojiagou Township

Gaojiagou township is located 40 kilometers east of Jingbian County, in the southern edge of Maowusu Desert, which is a semi hilly and semi aeolian sand area. The township governs 7 administrative villages, 52 villager groups, 1340 households and 7897 people (2017). The total area is 109.26 square kilometers, and the existing cultivated land is 27000 mu.

In July 2011, gaojiagou township was abolished and merged into yangqiaopan town.

Resource status

The township is rich in oil, natural gas and kaolin resources. There are qingpingpu and danlangou Neolithic sites in the territory.

economic development

The economic development of gaojiagou Township mainly depends on agriculture and animal husbandry. In recent years, the township party committee and government have actively guided farmers to plant trees and grass and encouraged the development of animal husbandry. At present, there are more than 30000 mu of artificial grass planting and 110000 mu of preserved forest land in the township. There are more than 1500 large livestock and more than 11000 sheep. The annual output value of cashmere is 500000 yuan and that of sheep is 900000 yuan. The annual grain output of the township is about 4.8 million jin, the annual output value of beans is 3.2 million yuan, and the annual output value of potato is 2.8 million yuan. Sheep, beans and potatoes are the three leading industries in the township and the main economic source of the masses.

In recent years, various social undertakings in gaojiagou township have developed rapidly. All villages in the township have been electrified. In 2002, the oil road from jiajiawan bridge to the township government was built, and the rural roads were basically opened. There are 14 primary and secondary schools in the township, including 1 middle school and 5 complete primary schools. There are 87 teaching staff and 1039 students in the school. In 2001, the "universal nine year plan" reached the standard. In 2002, a new township health center was built, which solved the problem of local people's difficulty in seeking medical treatment.

Gaojiagou township is one of the poorer townships in Jingbian. In order to change the poverty and backwardness, the township party committee and government have studied and formulated the development ideas for the future: planting grass and trees, focusing on animal husbandry, agriculture, forestry, industry and commerce, and getting rich comprehensively. The focus of the work is to transform the rural power grid, open up rural roads, develop well irrigation agriculture, vigorously implement the conversion of farmland to forest, actively develop the sheep industry, improve water conservancy facilities, and solve the problem of drinking water for human and livestock.
