Daqiao Township

Daqiao township is located in the northwest of Shiping County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, bordering Xinping and Yuanjiang counties in Yuxi City in the west, Baoxiu town in the southeast, Longwu and shaochong towns in the north, with a total area of 364.42 square kilometers. Rivers crisscross the territory and there are many bridges. In 1860, it was blocked by the river because it was a provincial road. Local gentleman Zhang Zhaohong proposed to build a bridge across the Mogu river, The three hole stone arch is about 33 meters long, 6 meters high and 3 meters wide. The bridge is strong and magnificent. It is the crown of all the bridges in Shiping, and the bridge is famous for it.

National Highway 323 runs through the whole territory from east to west and connects with Yuyuan expressway. It has obvious location advantages and is the west gate of Honghe Prefecture and Shiping County. The township governs 9 village committees, 76 natural villages and 99 villager groups, inhabiting Yi, Han, Dai and other ethnic groups, with a permanent population of 15089 (2017).

On October 15, 2020, it won the poverty alleviation advanced collective award of Yunnan Province in 2020.

The township is characterized by high mountains, deep valleys, crisscross ditches, 806-2230 meters above sea level, obvious three-dimensional climate, average annual temperature of 21-25.5 ℃, annual rainfall of 800-900 mm, cultivated land area of 17079.6 mu, including 8900 mu of farmland and 8139.6 mu of land, good agricultural production conditions, and 48% of water conservancy degree.

Daqiao township is rich in resources and has broad prospects for development. First, there are good land resources. There are 1574.4 mu of garden land, 312088.5 mu of forest land and 54533.3 mu of unused land in the township. Second, the climate is better. The valley area has sufficient light and high temperature, which is suitable for planting tropical fruits and developing early winter vegetables; the mountain area has superior light and heat energy conditions, which is an ideal area for planting tobacco, citrus and Myrica rubra; in 2002, 10000 mu of early winter vegetables, mainly tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, mainly watermelon, green jujube and citrus. The main fruit is Myrica rubra with an area of 10000 mu; the planting area of sugarcane is 10000 mu; among them, the green jujube planted in Daqiao has the effect of clearing lung, resolving phlegm and keeping in good health, which is known as the "green treasure of Southern Yunnan"; the orange fruit is big, juicy, delicious and won the gold prize in the "golden orange fragrance" held in Shiping in 2001. Third, there are abundant water resources. There are Daqiao River, Tuanshan River and Changming River in the township. There are three hydropower stations with a total installed capacity of 2.16 million kilowatts. There are four reservoirs, 17 Batang cliffs, with a total water storage capacity of 1.034 million cubic meters, 84 constant flow ditches, and an effective irrigation area of 7088 mu. Fourth, rich national cultural resources. Huayao, a branch of the Yi people, lives in the village committee of Takeju. Its folk songs, dances and costumes are colorful, and its folk customs are simple and mysterious.

In 2002, the gross domestic product of the township was 74.54 million yuan, the total grain output was 6150.5 tons, the local fiscal revenue was 1.65 million yuan, the per capita grain of farmers was 375 kg, and the per capita net income was 1020 yuan

Infrastructure

Infrastructure construction has been strengthened unprecedentedly, and five villages have been connected (i.e. tap water, electricity, highway, television and program-controlled telephone). Remarkable achievements have been made in the construction of irrigation and water conservancy. Most of the good farmland has basically realized the matching of ditches and roads, and the irrigation and drainage are free. The achievements in the construction of small towns are gratifying, the construction of new areas has begun to take shape, and the investment environment is improving day by day. The Party committee and government of Daqiao Township continuously deepen the understanding of the local conditions, and formulate practical and feasible economic development ideas: stabilize grain, protect tobacco, promote the construction of sugarcane pillars, pay attention to animal husbandry, forestry, fruits and vegetables at the same time, lay the foundation for water control, soil improvement and road construction, and attract investment to build towns and enterprises.
