Xijiao Street

Xijiao street, belonging to Meijiang district, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is named because it is located in the western suburb of Meizhou city. It is adjacent to Chengxi office in the East, Chengjiang River in the south, Chengjiang town in Meixian County across the river, Chengbei town in the West and Wuzhou office in the north. The total area is 6.53 square kilometers. As of October 2019, Xijiao street has jurisdiction over 7 communities and 5 administrative villages, and the street office is located in Jiangbei Xinfeng Road, Meijiang district. As of the end of 2018, Xijiao street has 11216 households with a total population of 35314, including 17879 males and 17435 females.

It was built in the Southern Qi Dynasty (479-502). In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to xijiebao and xixiangbao. In 1931, it was part of the first district. In 1941, Xijie Township and Huangzhai Township were located in the first district. In 1948, it belonged to chengxixiang and Xixiang. In December 1999, Xijiao town was established. In April 1989, with the approval of the municipal government, it was renamed Chengxi sub district office. In August 2002, Meijiang district adjusted its administrative division, abolished the Xijiao town and Chengxi sub district office, and merged them into Xijiao sub district office.

In November 1983, the western suburb was changed to Taoxi, which was divided into Chengjiang town and governed five villages.

In April 1987, Xijiao township was established.

In December 1999, Xijiao town was established.

In September 1975, it was merged into the Western District Office.

In 1979, it was under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City (county level).

In March 1983, after the merger of Meizhou City (county level) and Meixian County, the office was located in shanchuanting.

In 1988, counties and districts were set up separately, and the West District Office was renamed huangtang office, which is under the jurisdiction of Meijiang district of Meizhou city.
