Jianping township is under the jurisdiction of Baoqing county. It is located in the north of the county, bordering Fujin city in the north and friendship County in the northwest. The township government is 35 kilometers away from the county seat. In 1977, it opened up wasteland and built a site, named Pingyuan people's commune. In August 1980, it was renamed Jianping commune because of its duplicate name with the local commune. In May 1984, it was changed to Jianping township. Jianping township is located in the plain area, crisscrossing with the farm land. The cultivated land area of the township is 43000 mu, mainly planting wheat, soybean, rice, etc. The township has jurisdiction over eight villages, including Qianping, Baoping, Beiping, Dongping, Yongping, Pingyuan, Xinjian and Beixing. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 3524, all of whom were Han nationality. The township government is located in Qianping village.
