Guangming township is located at the junction of two provinces and three counties in the south of Jinggangshan City, Jiangxi Province, with a total area of 129.42 square kilometers. National Highway 220 passes through from north to south, 61 kilometers away from the urban area of Jinggangshan City. The township governs 9 administrative villages, including Shangqi, Guangming, yangkeng, Hongping, Xiaqi, hantou, Zhongyan, Changping and Xiankou, and 82 villager groups. The township government is stationed in Xuwei group of Xiaqi village. It is a Hakka residential area with a total population of 9236 (in 2017) and a cultivated land of 7695 mu. Surrounded by mountains, with forest coverage of more than 90%, the township is rich in natural resources, mainly tungsten, silica ore and granite. It is rich in Kumquat, ginger, tea, bamboo shoots, Indocalamus leaves, Litsea cubeba seeds, etc. it is a "hometown of mountain goods" with far and near civilization.
On March 19, 2020, Guangming Township, established by the merger of Xiaqi Township and Changping Township, was officially established.
Evolution of organizational system
At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the surname Wang moved from Guangdong to build a village. Therefore, there was a stream which was rich in fish and shrimp. People called it "shrimp stream". Later, because of the evolution of the pronunciation, he wrote "Xiaqi", which is still in use today. Since then, Hakka immigrants from Xingning, Yuhua, Heping and Meixian counties in Guangdong Province and Shanghang County in Fujian Province have successively moved here to make a foundation. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was Shangqi and Xiaqi townships in Suichuan County. Seven communes were established in 1958 and merged into Huanglong commune in 1967. In 1969, it was assigned to the Jinggangshan Administration Bureau, and in 1972, it reestablished seven communes. Xiaqi township was established in 1984.
In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, dozens of surnames such as Zou, Lu and Lin moved here from Guangdong and Fujian. Before liberation, it was called Changyan Township, the Fifth District of Suichuan County. In 1958, Changyan commune was established. In 1966, "Changyan commune" and "Xiaqi commune" merged into "Xiaqi commune", and later merged into "Huanglong (DA) commune". In 1969, "Huanglong (DA) commune" was under the jurisdiction of Jinggangshan administration, and its name remained unchanged. When Changping commune was restored in the winter of 1977, it was renamed Changping Township in 1984.

Geography and climate

At the same time, Xiaqi has fertile land and abundant products. The territory is rich in Kumquat, tea, ginger, bamboo shoots, Litsea cubeba seeds and other agricultural and sideline local products. Based on the profound Hakka culture, rich natural resources and the activities of striving for the best, Xiaqi actively adjusts the industrial structure, strives to improve the rural appearance, creates a harmonious society in an all-round way, and effectively transforms the resource advantages into economic and industrial advantages. The economic and social undertakings present a good development trend. The infrastructure of water, electricity, road and communication is improving day by day, and the software and hardware environment of economic development is constantly optimized. Through investment promotion, Xiankou power station with an installed capacity of 36000 kW and luohongkou power station with an installed capacity of 8250 kW have been developed and built. Tungsten mine, forest and other resources have also been effectively developed and utilized. Kumquat, ginger, tea, flower seedlings and other industries have begun to take shape. Jinggang vinegar ginger, Jinggang bean curd, Jinggangshan Cang seed oil and other series of agricultural and sideline products have been developed Xiaqi, the largest trading center of mountain goods in Jinggangshan City, has become a real "hometown of mountain goods".
Changping is a subtropical monsoon humid climate with an annual rainfall of 1800mm and an average temperature of 14 ℃. It has a unique alpine climate, resources and environment. It is the most remote and the highest elevation town in Jinggangshan City, and is known as "xiaociping". There are many tourist resources, such as Jiangxi Ao, the highest peak of Jinggangshan City (1841 meters), hot spring in hot water island of Xiankou, and the place where the story of paitoubing took place. There is abundant rainfall, high mountains and deep streams, with large drop. The forest reserves reach 170000 cubic meters, mainly including Chinese fir, pine and broad-leaved forest, as well as rare tree species such as camphor, Phoebe, cypress, catalpa and Taxus, with 18000 mu of Phyllostachys pubescens and 3.2 million roots. It is suitable for the cultivation of rare medicinal materials such as Gastrodia elata, Huanglian, niuqing and Paeonia lactiflora. The reserve of renewable Phyllostachys pubescens resources is rich, and the area of Phyllostachys pubescens is more than 20000 mu. At the same time, in the continuous mountains, there are all kinds of birds and animals, including rare animals such as Silver Pheasant, yellow bellied horned pheasant, red billed Acacia, deer, deer, deer, mountain ox, monkey, pangolin, etc. There are also many rare and precious animals and plants. The township is rich in hydropower resources. The total installed capacity of hydropower has reached 50000 kilowatts and the power supply is sufficient. It has become a strong Township in hydropower supply. There are eight small hydropower stations, including Xiankou hydropower station, Mingzhu hydropower station and baishuizhai hydropower station, with an installed capacity of more than 50000 kW. Rich in mineral resources, reserves, kaolin, silica ore up to 200 million cubic meters, 150 million square meters of granite, copper polymetallic ore reserves of 50000 tons.
