Da'an Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Lufeng City, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, is located in the middle and lower reaches of Luohe River, in the north of Lufeng City, adjacent to 80000 town in the East, southwest town in the west, Hedong town in the South and Luhe County in the north. The total area of the town is 93.5 square kilometers. At the end of 2018, the registered residence of Da'an Town was 65 thousand. As of October 2019, Da'an Town has jurisdiction over one community and 16 administrative villages.

There are many cultural relics in Da'an Town, including Shizhai ancient village and Lingquan temple, with profound cultural heritage.

Historical evolution

Da'an Town has a long history. Huanzhu village is the county government of Anlu County in 622. Because the names of the villages and alleys in the town all bear the word "an", the later generations took the meaning of "everyone lives and works in peace" and got the name "Da'an".

In 1958, the people's commune was established in Da'an.

In 1986, the commune was abolished and Da'an Town was established.

Da'an eight beasts

Da'an "eight beasts" is the intangible cultural heritage of Shanwei City. It is composed of eight sacred beasts: unicorn, lion, elephant, sheep, unicorn Buffalo, tiger, sika deer and white horse. It is said that eight beasts are "Eight Immortals" eight mounts. Eight children, six men and two women, dress up as eight immortals riding on the eight beasts, so they are called "Eight Immortals riding eight beasts" and "Eight Immortals riding eight beasts". The riding and performance can be divided into two stages: first, hanzhongli riding on unicorn, then LV Dongbin riding on lion, then Han Xiangzi riding on sheep, Cao Guojiu riding on unicorn, then Tieguai Li riding on tiger, Zhang Guolao riding on white horse, he Xianggu riding on plum deer, and finally LAN Caihe riding on elephant.

Mazu, known as the "goddess of the sea", has always been worshipped by people in the coastal areas. There are two Mazu temples in Da'an Town, which is located in the mountainous area of Lufeng City, Guangdong Province. It is said that the Queen's palace of Mazu, which is located in xishehoriziwei, Da'an Town, was built by the Su clan in the Song Dynasty. In the old days, the surging sea water of Wukan Bay went up the river to Da'an market. At the intersection of sea water and fresh water, the "Xianwu" cruise made the products rich. Mazu Temple (Tianhou Palace) is about 50 meters away from the Bank of Luohe River. The temple faces south from the north and is built against the water. In ancient times, it was named "Golden Lion falling into the water". On both sides of the bank, there are green dragons and white tigers, huge stones near the water, and the shape is like a lion's claw. The downstream is the ferry head, dadingkan, Yujie and Weizai on both sides of Luohe River (Da'an and southwest towns), and the upstream is Zhuoshui port, Sandu River and two ancient bridges (Liangban bridge).

Shizhai ancient village

Shizhai village is located on a small hill. The dwellings are built along the wall of the village. The village is connected by three streets and six lanes. Shizhai village is a representative village with well preserved historical and cultural sites, rich cultural information of folk customs and religious beliefs.
