Ma'an town

Ma'an town is a town under the jurisdiction of Yunxi County, Shiyan City, Hubei Province. Located in the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, Yunxi hinterland, 44 kilometers away from the county, East and Guanyin, Jianchi border, South and Jiahe, Yangwei connected, West and LIULANG through, North and Xiangkou, Tumen adjacent. It is said that in ancient times (about 4000 years ago), there was an unpredictable cave in a big mountain in the west of this place (the original liemadong village, with a stake, a manger, and a single wooden bridge in it, which is still a mystery). There was a BMW hidden in the cave. Suddenly one day, the BMW came out of the cave to drink water, and was shocked by thunder and lightning, galloping to the East, BMW raced to the East, but was blocked by a mountain (Ma'an pass, Liangzi). He took a rest in the "Dragon King's session". When he met the Dragon King, BMW fell into a ravine and dived into Longtan, so it was named Ma'an pass (now Ma'an pass, at the dam of the reservoir). Ma'an has been used so far.

Ma'an was liberated in October 1947. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Ma'an District Office, Ma'an commune and Ma'an Township People's government were established. In December 1999, Ma'an town was changed to Ma'an town with the approval of the provincial people's government. It has jurisdiction over 12 villages, 111 groups and 19177 people (in 2017), with a territory area of 174.2 square kilometers (in 2017), a cultivated land area of 17885 Mu and a forest area of 170010 mu. Now it is renamed Ma'an town.

According to legend, nearly a thousand years ago, Emperor Zhenwu traveled from Wudang Mountain, the first mountain in Central China, to Ma'an, Yunxi. Unexpectedly, it was late and he wanted to find a place to live. When he stepped on a big mountain in the southeast direction, the mountain was about to collapse, so he immediately stepped down from the mountain, but the mountain was tilted by his foot. Later, the mountain was named Piantou mountain. Then he took another step to the tallest mountain, which was high but wobbly. Later, this mountain was called Huang mountain locally. At this time, Emperor Zhenwu looked around and saw a mountain nearly 1000 feet high in the south, which was in the center of the five peaks. Emperor Zhenwu followed the broadest of the five peaks and jumped up to the top of the mountain. He was stable and settled down. On that night, Emperor Zhenwu entrusted his dream to the people at the foot of the mountain, and the news spread like wildfire. Since then, the whole area has been in good weather for many years. In order to repay Zhenwu's ancestors, the local people contributed to build a temple there and a bronze statue of Zhenwu emperor in the temple. After that, pilgrims came here to burn incense and petition on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar new year. So there is the famous grandmaster top, and the mountain next to it is called Fangshan.
