Xiyang town

Xiyang Town, located in the southeast of Meijiang district, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is adjacent to Yanyang town and Dapu County, Meixian District, Meizhou City in the East, Dongsheng Industrial Park, Meizhou City in the west, Bingcun Town, Meixian District, Meizhou City in the northeast, and Fengshun County in the southeast. The total area is 272 square kilometers. By 2019, Xiyang town has jurisdiction over 3 communities and 27 villages, and the town government is located at No. 1, Wenming Road, Xiyang Town, Meijiang district. As of 2018, Xiyang town had 36 thousand and 400 registered residence population.

Xiyang town is named for its mountains and waters called Xiyang mountain and Xiyang water. Before the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Wan'an capital of Chengxiang county (now Meixian County). It was established in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and was called Xiyang fort at that time. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was renamed Xiyang district. In 2003, the former White House town was merged into Xiyang town. In September 2012, the Guangdong Provincial Government approved the transfer of Xiyang town of Meixian County to Meijiang district of Meizhou city. Affected by the subtropical monsoon along the southeast coast, Xiyang town has abundant rainfall, mild climate, sufficient sunshine, long frost free period, beautiful soil and water, and is suitable for cultivation in four seasons.

From January to September 2018, the total output value of industries above Designated Size in Xiyang town reached 3.057 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%; the sales of wholesale and retail commodities above Designated Size reached 266 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36%; the total output value of industries above designated size increased by 11 enterprises.

Historical evolution

Xiyang town is named for its mountains and waters called Xiyang mountain and Xiyang water.

Before the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Wan'an capital of Chengxiang county (now Meixian County). It was established in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and was called Xiyang fort at that time.

In 1931, Xiyang township was set up.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was renamed Xiyang district.

In 1950, it was renamed Township, which was directly under the county government.

In 1958, Xiyang people's commune was merged with the White House.

In January 1983, the social construction area was withdrawn.

In April 1987, it was renamed town.

In 2003, the former White House town was merged into Xiyang town.

In 2019, Xiyang town will coordinate more than 150 million yuan and implement more than 130 projects in 10 provincial poverty villages. More than 70 135 km rural roads and 30 km road security projects have been implemented, and more than 20 natural villages have been connected with roads. In 2019, Xiyang town will implement the policies of subsidizing the living expenses of students from poor families and exempting them from tuition and miscellaneous fees. The low-income and five guarantee families will realize the goal of social security and stable poverty alleviation. We should purchase basic medical insurance with full coverage and build a village level "health cabin" to solve the problem of villagers' difficulty in seeing a doctor. We have completed the renovation project of class C and D dilapidated houses in an all-round way. As a whole, the poverty alleviation fund has been invested in dividends, 20 village level distributed photovoltaic power stations have been built, the per capita income of poor households has increased by 600 yuan per year, and the construction of 414 kW photovoltaic power station with annual power generation has started. We will promote the poverty alleviation action of "100 enterprises helping 100 villages", implement the policy of "replacing compensation with awards" in employment, and create more public welfare jobs. All the poverty-stricken villages in 10 provinces have reached the exit standard.

Lianfang building

Lianfanglou, also known as lianfangzhai, is located in fuliangmei village, white house, Meixian district. It was built by returned overseas Chinese in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, imitating foreign buildings and adding Hakka Village characteristics. Lianfang building is nearly 100 meters long and 40-50 meters wide. On the front of the building are three bell tower gates with animals and flowers on the top of all the windows. At the top of the bell tower, there are statues of lions rolling balls, Double Dragons grabbing treasures, eagles spreading their wings and angels approaching the door. The interior design of the big house has the style of Hakka enclosed house, including many patios. The whole building combines the characteristics of Chinese and Western architecture, and is a model of Chinese and western residential architecture.

Cowhorn house

Niujiaowu is located in White House Xianhua village, Xiyang Town, about 3 kilometers away from White House polder. Niujiaowu is also known as Qiu's dafudi. The house was built by the brothers Qiu Kailin and Qiu Xianglin. It was started in the first year of Guangxu and completed in 1884.

There are also some differences between Niujiao house and general Weilong house: there is no pond in front of the door, no wall, and no Doumen. The five gates are directly outward. In addition, the Weilong house does not gather together. The whole house is an open house with a wide view and a continuous countryside. This also confirmed the farming proverb "cattle lying in the field, do not worry about eating" geomantic stress. From this we can see the simplicity of the local people and the good public security.

Famous people

There are many talented people in Xiyang. This is the hometown of Lin Fengmian, a world-class master of painting, art educator and the first president of China Academy of fine arts; it is also the hometown of Qiu Jun, Zhang Wenbao and Zhang Gang, Jinshi in Ming Dynasty, Chen Guobao, Qiu Dazhang and Qiu Yuguang, Wujinshi in Qing Dynasty; Lu Gengfu, the first governor of Meizhou in the Republic of China and Councilor of Guangdong Province; Huang renhuan, commander and lieutenant general of the Fourth Army of the first group army of Guangdong army, and the seventh in the Anti Japanese war Zhao Yijian, a war zone general, and Qiu Yise, a major general of the Chinese expeditionary army, were all born here.
