Taian township is under the jurisdiction of Yanshou county. It is located in the north of the county, bordering Fangzheng County in the East and North, and Binxian County in the West. The township government is 45 kilometers away from the county seat. Originally under the jurisdiction of the third district of Yanshou county. In April 1956, Taian township was set up. In January 1958, it was incorporated into Liutuan township. In September of the same year, Liutuan township was renamed Liutuan people's commune.

In January 1958, it was incorporated into Liutuan township. In September of the same year, Liutuan township was renamed Liutuan people's commune. In June 1961, eight production teams were set up in the northwest of Liutuan commune to establish Taian commune. In January 1984, it was changed to Tai'an township. Tai'an township is a mountainous area, and the beiliushu river runs through the whole area. Guanmenshan reservoir is built in the lower reaches of beiliushu river. The total area of the township is 194.5 square kilometers, with 34000 mu of arable land. The main crops are corn, soybean, potato, etc. The territory is rich in wild vegetables and traditional Chinese medicine. The township has jurisdiction over Fuyuan, Xin'an, Yanji, Xinli, Xinhe, Tai'an, liming, Taoshan, Xincun and Tuanjie. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 8204, of which Manchu, Mongolian and other ethnic minorities accounted for about 3%. The township government is located in Fuyuan village.
