Hongxing town is located in the hinterland of Mingshan District, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, covering an area of 37 square kilometers, 6 kilometers north of national highway 318. It governs 8 administrative villages (Shangma, Huaguang, Luowan, Tianwang, Taiping, Gongdian, Baiqiang, Yuba) and 56 agricultural cooperatives.

Historical evolution

Hongxing, formerly known as taipingchang, belonged to Yanzhen Township in 1380 (the 13th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty). In 1910 (the second year of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty), it belonged to Weigong township. In 1935 (24 years of the Republic of China), it belonged to the third district of Taiping United security. In 1941 (30 years of the Republic of China), it changed its name to Taiping Township. After liberation, it still used the old name. In 1958, it was the Taiping Branch of Baizhang people's commune. In July of the next year, the Taiping People's commune was established, with 12 brigades under its jurisdiction. In 1962, yinmu, Yuegang and Gaogang groups were assigned to Yuegang commune. In 1966, it was renamed Red Star people's commune. In 1983, it was renamed Hongxing township. In 1992, liberation and Red Star merged. On January 23, 1997, the township was removed and the town was built. In 2000, Taiping, Yuba, Luowan, Baiqiang, Shangma, Gongdian, Tianwang and Huaguang were under the jurisdiction of eight villages and 56 villager groups.
