Gaoqiao Town

Gaoqiao Town is located in the southeast of Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, adjacent to Conghua County in the East and Fogang County in the north. The town is a place name. Ming Dynasty gradually became a fair, because a tall wooden bridge was built nearby to cross Zhenjiang Miao River, so it was named.

Historical evolution

Gaoqiao Town, Gaoqiao commune was established in 1977, and established in 1986. In 2003, Gaoqiao Town was merged into Yuantan town in Qingcheng district. Gaoqiao community was set up in the original location of Gaoqiao Town. There were 650 households and 3618 people in the community. Most of the villagers here were engaged in planting and breeding industry, including sows, fish, chickens, orchards, sugar oranges, and contiguous contracted fields.

Economic level

In Gaoqiao Town, the average income of the community was only 2700 yuan in 2004; it rose to 3500 yuan in 2005 and 3900 yuan in 2006. In 2007, it reached more than 4300 yuan.
