Qianjin township is under the jurisdiction of Shuangcheng District of Harbin city. It is located in the southeast of the District, on the North Bank of the Lalin River, across the river from Yushu City, Jilin Province in the south. The township government is 15 kilometers away from the city.

Before and after the founding of the people's Republic of China, Qianjin township was under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang District and Dancheng district respectively. In March 1956, Qianjin township was set up instead of regionalized township. Qianjin township was abolished in 1958. When the commune division was adjusted in 1970, some production teams were set up from the two communes of Dancheng and Chaoyang respectively, and Qianjin commune was established. In the spring of 1984, it was changed to Qianjin township. Qianjin township is close to the Lalin River, with flat terrain and some low-lying land. The main canal of Youyi canal flows through nine villages including Zheng'an, Zhengwang, shengqian and Shengfeng along the southern area, which can irrigate farmland and plant rice in a large area. The total area of the township is 97.4 square kilometers, with 81600 mu of arable land. The main crops are corn, rice, soybean, wheat, flax, sugar beet, etc. There are many natural ponds in the territory, rich in carp, crucian carp, grass carp, catfish and so on. Township run industries include brick making, paper making, mechanical processing, farm tool maintenance, etc. There are 14 villages in shengqian, Shengping, Shengli, Shengye, Zhengguang, Zhengan, Zhengsheng, Zhengwang, Shengfa, Shengyu, Shengqin, Shengcheng, Shengfeng and Shengyong. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 25000, mainly Han nationality. The township government is located in jinqiantun, shengqian village.
