Xinmin Town

Xinmin Town, a township under the jurisdiction of Da'an District, Zigong City, is located in the east of Zigong City, with an area of 31.45 square kilometers and a population of 34014 (2017). It is a combination of Xinsheng commune and Minle commune.

Regional overview

Da'an District of Zigong City governs the township. Xinmin commune was established in 1959 and Xinmin Township was established in 1984. Located in the north of the District, 3.7 km away from the district government. It covers an area of 31.45 square kilometers and has a population of 34014 (2017). The self boundary highway passes through the territory. It has jurisdiction over seven village committees, namely, Dongjia, Liaoyuan, Baishu, jiujingba, Tianyuan, Qianqian and Huayuan, and two neighborhood committees, namely, tianyuanjing and Yanjia. Township enterprises have graphite, machinery, electronics, building materials and other factories. Agricultural production of rice, wheat, corn. Evolution of administrative districts

During the period of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Gaodong Township, Xinyou Township, Dashan Township and Shengping township of Shangbei road in Fushun County. In January 1953, it was called Minle township. In January 1956, Minle and Huzhu Township were merged, still known as Minle township. In October 1958, it was called Minle farming area. In May 1959, Minle and Xinsheng merged and were renamed Xinmin commune. In May 1961, Xinsheng was set up from Xinmin commune. In the spring of 1984, it was changed into Xinmin Township. In 1988, Xinmin Township governed seven villages including jiujingba, Baishu, Tianyuan, Qianqian, Dongjia, Liaoyuan and Huayuan, and two residents' committees including tianyuanjing and Yanjia. On April 17, 2001, Xinmin Township and Xinsheng Township were abolished and Xinmin Town was established.
