It is adjacent to Sanchahe town in the southeast, Caijiagou town in the northeast and North, gongpengzi town in the northwest, wujiazhan town in the southwest and Taolaizhao town in the south. The total administrative area is 242.4 square kilometers.

In 1950, Xiao's hometown belonged to two districts: Caijiagou and Yushugou; in October 2005, Yushugou was merged into Xiao's hometown. By the end of 2018, Xiao had 49525 registered residence. As of June 2020, Xiao's hometown has 30 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.

In 1950, it belonged to Caijiagou and Yushugou.

In 1956, it belonged to two townships of Caijiagou and Yushugou.

In September 1958, xiaojiagou commune was established in 17 villages of Caijiagou commune and Yushugou commune.

In October 2005, Yushugou township was incorporated into the city.
