In 1951, jiechengdong, Yongshun and Sixian set up Shiqiao township.
In 1952, it was assigned to Yuecheng district and renamed Shiqiaopu township. It has jurisdiction over Shiqiao, Xilou, Gangong, Hongba, Wolong, Fenghuo, Banya and tianzhai.
In 1953, it was assigned to the first district.
In 1955, it was incorporated into Chengdong township.
In 1962, Shiqiao commune was established.
In 1984, the commune was transformed into a township.
In 1998, it was renamed Shiqiaopu town.
On December 13, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns in Ziyang City (cfgm [2019] No. 19): Shiqiaopu town was abolished and Shiqiao street was established, and the administrative area of Shiqiaopu town was the administrative area of Shiqiao street.
