Hedi town is located in the northeast of Luoning County, Luoyang City, Henan Province, China, 40 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Dongsong Township in the south, Mianchi County in the north, Yiyang County in the East and Shaanxi county in the West. The total area of the town is 133.7 square kilometers, with 35 administrative villages, 144 natural villages, 345 villager groups and a total population of 40697 (2017). The terrain of the town is high in the West and low in the East, showing the trend of "three plateaus and two rivers". There are Lianchang River, xidushui River and Xiaojian river running through the whole town from west to East.

history

In ancient times, Hedi was called shazha, also known as Shuanglong town. It was once administered by Yongning County, and was renamed Hedi town in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. In July 1931, the first party branch of Luoning County of the Communist Party of China was established in Hedi. In March 1948, Hedi was liberated. In 1958, Hedi commune was merged with Yangpo township to form Hedi commune. In 1973, Hedi commune and Yangpo commune were established separately. In 1982, Hedi Township People's government was established. In November 2005, township organizations were reformed in the whole province. Hedi and Yangpo townships were merged into Hedi Township again. In December 2009, they were changed into towns.
