Xiangyang Township is under the jurisdiction of Sunwu County. It is located in the west of the county, on the east slope of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, bordering Nenjiang County in the west, Wudalianchi in the South and Heihe City in the north. The township government is 65 kilometers away from the county seat. Xiangyang Township is named because most of its cultivated land is on the sunny slope. Originally under the jurisdiction of Maihai commune in Nenjiang County, Xiangyang reclamation area was set up after it was transferred to Sunwu County in March 1976. In 1977, four production teams including Xichun, Donggang, Minshan and Youshan were set up. In October 1979, Xiangyang people's commune was established. It was changed to Xiangyang Township in 1984. Xiangyang Township is a mountainous and alpine area. The township covers a total area of 554 square kilometers, with dense forests and mountain products such as agaric, mushroom, Hericium erinaceus, Pteridium aquilinum, etc. The cultivated area is 45000 mu, mainly wheat. The main economic source of the township is forest and sideline production. The township has jurisdiction over 8 villages, including Yanfeng, Linhe, Yinghe, Dongsheng, Xichun, Donggang, Minshan and sheban. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 1746, mainly Han nationality. The township government is located in Xiangyang village.
