Yanghe town is located in Pingqiao District, Xinyang City, Henan Province, bordering Xiaowang Township and Jiudian Township in the East, Pingqiao industrial city and Yangshan New District in the south, Pengjiawan Township in the west, and Hudian Township and Longjing Township in the north. 224 provincial road passes through the border, and Shanghai Shaanxi, Beijing Zhuhai, and Beijing Hong Kong Macao expressways meet and interchange in the town, with exits. It covers an area of 88.6 square kilometers and 39500 mu of cultivated land.

Evolution of organizational system

Yanghe district was established in 1949, Yanghe commune was established in 1958, and Yanghe township was changed in 1983. In 1997, with an area of 150 square kilometers and a population of 40000, it has jurisdiction over a neighborhood committee in Yanghe street and 17 administrative villages in Yanghe, chenfan, yaozhai, ancestral hall, woniudian, guanwan, Erlihe, Huangyuan, baituyan, Dongchong, Lumiao, lvlaotang, sushuanglou, dashantou, xiaoyanghe, zhoufan and sumiao. In 2006, it has jurisdiction over the neighborhood committee of Yanghe town and 15 administrative villages including xiaoyanghe, sushuanglou, yaozhai, dashantou, zhoufan, Yanghe, chenfan, lvlaotang, Huangyuan, guanwan, baituyan, Lumiao, woniudian, Dongchong and sumiao. In September 2004, ancestral temple village was put under the management of Xinyang Industrial City. On May 15, 2007, the people's Government of Henan Province approved the withdrawal of Yanghe township to build a town; on June 25, the municipal government approved the withdrawal of Yanghe township to build a town; in October, Yanghe township was officially established

Yanghe town has 2 communities and 12 administrative villages. The communities include Baiguoshu community and fenghuangtai community. The administrative villages include Yanghe village, xiaoyanghe village, yaozhai village, Huangyuan village, dashantou village, zhoufan village, baituyan village, lvlaotang village, chenfan village, Dongchong village, sushuanglou village and guanwan village.

The whole town is located in Hilly and shallow areas, with high terrain in the southwest and low terrain in the northeast, belonging to the transition area from subtropical monsoon climate to warm temperate zone. It is 17 kilometers away from Xinyang City and 19 kilometers away from the seat of the district government.
