History and today
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the urban structure of Xianning City has gone through four evolution stages: single point layout, one body and two wings, two city docking and five city linkage. Before 1965, Xianning City was a single center point free development form with a population of 20000-30000. In 1965, Xianning district was stationed in Wenquan Town. By 1975, the urban development of Xianning gradually presented the point structure of Yong'an and Wenquan. In the 1960s and 1970s, with the need of "three line construction", Xianning City ushered in the first great development period after the founding of the people's Republic of China. More than 10 Central and provincial enterprises and industrial workers such as provincial coal machinery, provincial second electric machinery and provincial thermos bottle factory moved to Xianning, and more than 20 prefecture level enterprises such as regional engineering machinery factory were newly built. Two urban groups of Yong'an town and Wenquan Town, Xianning railway station and Yongning railway station were formed in Xianning City Annan, hot spring and other three industrial and residential areas are relatively concentrated, with an urban area of 5 square kilometers and an urban population of 60000. In the early 1980s, with the adjustment of the national industrial policy, some provincial enterprises moved back to their original sites, and lost the continuous promotion of the industry, so the construction speed of Xianning City, which had just started, stagnated. On August 19, 1983, the State Council officially abolished Xianning county ((83) Guo Han Zi No. 164) and established Xianning City at the county level. Xianning city entered the climax of construction again. Yongan Road, No. 2 Road (Chang'an Avenue), No. 1 Road (Yinquan Avenue), Wenquan road and other urban roads were newly built and expanded. The urban population reached 80000 in the late 1980s and 100000 in the 1990s. By 2000, the urban population had increased With a population of 200000, the city will be built with an area of 24 square kilometers, and Yongan and Wenquan will begin to connect. In December 2007, Wuhan city circle was approved as the national "two oriented society" construction comprehensive supporting reform pilot zone. With the implementation of the "one core, five cities and two districts" urban space development strategy, Xianning urban construction has entered a period of rapid urban development. Four new urban areas, namely, tourism new town, industrial new town (Yangtze River Industrial Park), vocational education new town and Xian'an new town (Phoenix Industrial Park), are developing rapidly The main urban area of Xianning has been expanded to the south, East and north respectively. The urban area has expanded rapidly, from 5-7 square kilometers in the 1980s to 30 square kilometers in 2010, and the urban population has reached more than 300000. Xianning City construction is entering the third period of urban development after the founding of the people's Republic of China.
