It governs five communities (college community, Kangxi community, kangdong community, Taining community, Qingzang Garden community) and caojiazhai village. Bayi Road sub district office was established in 1979. In 1997, it covers an area of 2 square kilometers and has a population of 12000. Most of them are Han nationality. There are Hui, Tibetan, Tu and other ethnic minorities. The Hui nationality accounts for 11.6% of the total population. It has jurisdiction over eight neighborhood committees, including caojiazhai, coalfield, auto bazhang, kangdongxi, Bayi Road, shangshilipu, xiashilipu, Lejiawan and two family committees, including auto engine factory.
