Taiping Township

Taiping Township is a township level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Jinsha County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. It is located in the west of Jinsha County, 57 kilometers away from Jinsha County. It is directly accessible by 740 county road. It borders Dashan Township and Guowa township of Dafang County, and Pingba Township, Shichang Township, Qingchi Township and Malu township of Jinsha County,. It covers an area of 96 square kilometers. The population is 1592, of which 26.9% are Yi, Miao and other nationalities. There are four villages and one community. In 1949, it was Taiping Township. In 1953, Taiping, Taishi, Huanlu and Paoma townships were established. It was incorporated into Shichang commune in 1959. In 1962, Taiping, Taishi and Huanlu communes were established. In 1984, the commune was transformed into a township. In 1991, Taiping Yi and Miao nationality township was merged into four villages and one community, Taiping Township, Taishi village, Qingmen village, Xin'an village, Huanlu village and Taiping community. It is a typical kashite landform area. There are many karst caves, stone forests and other landforms in the area. The lowest elevation is about 600 meters, and the highest is more than 1700 meters of Lvzhu mountain. It has beautiful scenery. There are Taiping Grand Canyon, Yinjiagou waterfall, Qingmen Village stone forest, Tianxing River and other landscapes that have not been damaged by artificial development. The vegetation coverage rate reaches 62.7%. At present, there are more than 7000 mu of tea and 5000 mu of wild bamboos in the main industry, which are rich in wild kiwifruit, Wubei fruit, original honey, walnut, bamboo shoots and Kuding tea.

There are coal and sulfur mines. Lacquer and tea are produced. There are six primary schools, one junior high school and one kindergarten. The Township People's government is located in Taiping community, 34 kilometers northwest of Chengguan Town, at the foot of Yingzuishan. Population 1.5920. The average altitude is 1020 meters. It was originally named jiupanpo. In 1884, song Taiping and others opened a market here, which is even more famous today.
