Mafang town is located in Fangshan County, Luliang City, Shanxi Province, with a total area of 368.43 square kilometers. Farmers' economic income mainly includes breeding, planting and migrant workers.

On July 24, 2019, Mafang town was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.

With a total area of 368.43 square kilometers, Mafang town governs 31 administrative villages, 2 new immigrant villages and 56 natural villages. 4322 households, 17845 people (2017). There are 4217 large livestock, 130 cashmere goats, 59000 mu of cultivated land and 12000 mu of forest land. The forest area is 450000 mu. The main crops are potatoes, red kidney beans, small grains.

The main mineral resources are boring stone, tounei stone, iron ore, tungsten ore, tantalum, etc. Wild resources mainly include Chinese herbal medicine, edible fungus, mushroom, Morchella, seabuckthorn and so on.

In agriculture, "two beans" are the main. Potatoes, red kidney beans. Potato production has reached 35000 mu, and red kidney bean production has reached 10000 mu. In animal husbandry, since the prohibition of animal husbandry in the whole county, the main purpose is to raise cattle. Recently, large cattle farmers in Sihao village and zhuangzeshang are preparing to set up cattle raising associations. In terms of enterprises, there are 7 important enterprises, 4 mineral processing plants, 2 food processing enterprises and 1 quartz development enterprise.

There is a middle school with 360 students, nine primary schools, three boarding primary schools and more than 1300 students in the town. The quality of teaching is relatively low.

geographical position

It is located in the northernmost part of Fangshan County, 28 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Loufan and Jiaocheng in the East, Linxian and Xingxian in the west, Lanxian in the north, Taijia Expressway and national highway 209 running through the north and south, and provincial highway 104 running through the East and West, with convenient transportation. In 2001, it merged with Kaifu Township, which is the largest township in the county. There are 70000 mu of cultivated land and 450000 mu of forest land in the town, including 12000 mu of converted farmland to forest land. The climate is relatively cold, and the annual average temperature is 4.0-5.0 ℃, and the frost free period is only 90 days.
