Matian Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Yizhang County, Hunan Province, is located in the Midwest of Yizhang County. It has 11 village committees, namely, tongzishuxia, Shangdong, Simen, Matian, Yangjia, Sixi, Sanwan, Songbai, Xincun, xiatangchong and zengchong. Known as the "hometown of coal", it has gradually formed three pillar industries, mainly coal, building materials and transportation. It realizes the harmonious scene of underground resources exploitation and green industry development.

Historical evolution

Matian town is located in the Midwest of Yizhang County. Matian village under its jurisdiction is the hometown of general Ouyang Yi. According to the local Ouyang genealogy, during the reign of emperor Tianyou of Tang Dynasty (about 904-907), the prime minister issued a white Ma edict, ordering Ouyang Qing, the festival envoy of Jingzhou, to go out of Chenyang town and supervise Yizhang. Shi Ping was granted farmland, hence the name of Ma Tian. In 1950, it belonged to Baisha district (also known as the Second District). In 1956, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, Matian township was established. In 1958, it belonged to Meitian people's commune. In 1961, it was again divided by Meitian commune and set up Matian people's Commune. In 1984, the commune was changed into township. In 1994, it was withdrawn and the township was merged. The town has a total area of 54 square kilometers, 974 hectares of arable land, 5472 households and 21430 people.

In 2015, the township zoning adjustment plan of Hunan Province was announced, and Meitian town and Matian town were merged to establish Meitian town.

As of 2015, Matian town has 11 village committees and 114 villager groups under the jurisdiction of tongzishuxia Yao, Shangdong, Matian, zengchong, Simen, xiatangchong, Yangjia, Sanwan, Sixi, Xincun and Songbai. The total land area of the town is 54 square kilometers, including 811.53 hectares of arable land, with a total population of 20292, including 304 ethnic minorities and 2803 urban residents. There are 17 grassroots party branches and 526 party members.

Matian town is located in the southwest of the county, 35 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Qitianling forest farm and Meitian town in the East, Jiangshui Township in the south, Jielong Township in Linwu County in the West and Furong Township in Beihu District in the north. Economics

There are more than ten kinds of mineral resources, such as coal, lead-zinc, graphite, etc. in Matian Town, there are several pillar industries of coal, building materials, non-ferrous metal development, planting and breeding. There are two coal mines, two non-ferrous metal mines, and five county-level agricultural leading enterprises.

In 2013, the town's GDP was 834.0267 million yuan, an increase of 11.46%; the total investment in fixed assets was 505 million yuan, an increase of 13.3%; the town level fiscal revenue was 39.86 million yuan, and the average net income of farmers was 10306 yuan. In 2013, the town made great efforts to adjust and optimize the industrial structure, developed 9 planting and breeding bases, 4 large grain growers, completed afforestation of 4950 mu, and established 8 farmers' professional cooperatives, including Xingnong, honeysuckle, Daoxiang, Jingui fruits and vegetables. Vigorously promote the co construction of urban and rural areas and environmental governance, invest 18.9 million yuan to complete 17 construction projects such as the town street facade transformation and small garden, 7 construction projects of "one case, one discussion", one environmental improvement demonstration village, one greening demonstration village and one construction poverty alleviation village, promote the relocation project of Poverty Alleviation under Tongzi tree on schedule, and smoothly implement the reconstruction project of two dangerous bridges in Matian village and Sixi village . The work has achieved good results, and won the third prize of comprehensive performance evaluation of the county. Among the 37 awards set up in the county, Ma Tian has won 20 advanced awards in finance and taxation, comprehensive management and transportation.

In 2014, the GDP was 891.76 million yuan, an increase of 13.08%, including 79.23 million yuan in the primary industry, 71.82 million yuan in the secondary industry, 13.86% in the tertiary industry, 101.71 million yuan in the tertiary industry, 14.29% in the total investment in fixed assets, 599.4 million yuan in the total investment, 25% in the total investment in fixed assets, 22.1 million yuan in the township level financial revenue, and 11716 yuan in the average net income of farmers. There were 21990 live pigs, 1970 cattle and 1081 sheep, 141000 poultry, 1987.00 tons of meat, 212 tons of eggs and 168.00 tons of aquatic products.

Publicity activities

On January 7, in response to the call of the county Party committee and the county government, Matian town invited Ouyang Shaoxian, deputy director of the county government office, to explain the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress for the cadres, village branch secretaries and directors of the town. The meeting was presided over by Comrade Xiao Weihong, Secretary of the town Party committee.
