Tongyu town belongs to Tongguan County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the southeast of the county, adjacent to Yuling Town, Lingbao City, Henan Province in the East, Sier Town, Luonan County, Shangluo City in the south, and Taiyao town in the north and West. The maximum distance from east to west is 7.2 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 13.9 km, with a total area of 84.4 square kilometers.

As of June 2020, Tongyu town has two communities and two administrative villages. As of 2018, Tong Yu town had 12843 registered residence population. In 2011, the total sales of social commodities in Tongyu town reached 9.83 million yuan, the balance of various deposits was 200 million yuan, and the balance of various loans was 12 million yuan.

Historical evolution

Before 1944, each village belonged to Tongguan county and Wenxiang County, Henan Province. In the same year, after the demarcation of Tongguan and Wenxiang counties, Taiyao township was set up, and Taiyao street was the seat of the government.

In 1951, it was transferred to the Fifth District.

In January 1955, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and Lijia village was established. The government was stationed in Lijia village.
