Weiyuan Town, located in the county seat, is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Jinggu County. It is a dam area with an administrative area of 1127 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 100096 (2017).

Weiyuan town is a hometown of overseas Chinese with a strong ethnic cultural atmosphere. In Dazhai guanfo temple, there is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit "Tabao tree and Shubao tower", which is known as "a unique talin in China". The first Ivory mango ancestor tree introduced and planted by mangmao village in Dai village from Chiang Mai, Thailand, is still luxuriant. The ancestor stele is located next to Mangxiang Avenue, which is in connection with the Dai cultural entertainment center of mangmao village )Corresponding, self-contained. After the completion of the Dai culture and entertainment center, it will become an important scenic spot on the east gate of Jinggu and a Dai Architectural Complex with ethnic characteristics. In 2002, the town was rated as the hometown of folk art in China - the hometown of Xiangjiao drum dance, and a provincial cultural demonstration base of overseas Chinese hometown was set up in Dazhai. Mengwo mass art troupe was established in 2000. There are 13 performing teams, more than 500 amateur actors, 475 sets of various performing costumes, 2 dragon lanterns, 90 drums of elephant foot drum, and a number of performance props. Every year, the town holds a grand "water splashing and flower picking Festival" and "Torch Festival" to celebrate the carnival activities, with strong national characteristics.
