West Street

Xijie sub district office is located in the central area of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The name of the office is named after Xincheng West Street (now Xinhua Street), which runs through the area under its jurisdiction. This road was named after Suiyuan city in the Qing Dynasty.

There are more than 70 large units in the District, 8 communities under the street, with a population of 44709 (2010 Liupu), inhabiting more than 20 ethnic groups such as Mongolian, Han, Manchu and Hui. Covering an area of 1.97 square kilometers, it is adjacent to Zhelimu road in the East, Hulun North South Road in the west, Wulanchabu West Road in the South and Jingbao railway line in the north. The West Street sub district office was established in June 1965 and is separated from the new town office. When it was first built, it had jurisdiction over 6 neighborhood committees and 61 units stationed in the district. The number of neighborhood committees increased to 10 in 1980, 18 in 1991, 23 in 1997, and three in Xilin road in 2000, bringing the total number of neighborhood committees to 26. After the change of the neighborhood committee in 2001, it was merged into eight neighborhood committees.
