Xinghua Street

Xinghua Street (formerly Xinxing Street) is located in the center of the District, at the junction of Xinli street and Xin'an street in the East and Xinhe street in the West. It is adjacent to Yuexiu street in the north and Henan Street in the south. It covers an area of 5 square kilometers. There are two communities and 12 residents committees.

The total population was 10585 (2010). In 1982, Xinxing street was under the jurisdiction of the people's commune. Before 1998, it was the seat of the district government, a new district and the earliest street in the city. It is the political, economic, cultural, educational and transportation center of the whole region. Qitaihe railway station, long-distance passenger station and No.1 No.4 bus in the city all provide convenient traffic conditions for the street. No.8 Middle School (formerly No.1 Middle School of Qitaihe mining bureau), municipal hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, Xinxing Branch of CCB and Yuhong primary school are all in the street. Xinxing District Procuratorate, Xinxing police station of Xinxing Public Security Bureau, Xinxing State Taxation Bureau, Xinxing housing management office, Xinxing transportation management office, district Netcom Company and district post office are all in the street. Xinxing Trade City, fruit wholesale market, steel wholesale market, used goods market, logistics market, northern shopping mall, grain and oil wholesale market, daily service company, Heshun bath, automobile repair department, all kinds of snack bar. In 2002, Xinghua street was awarded the provincial advanced Street office by the provincial government; in June 2003, it was awarded the honorary title of advanced street community party organization by the provincial Party committee. Due to the unlimited exploitation of coal resources for many years and the deep underground cavity, the ground has seriously subsided. A large pit with a subsidence area of 2000 square meters and a depth of 2.8 meters appeared 500 meters southeast of Yuexiu bridge. The water depth in the pit is 2.5 meters, forming a lake, which was originally named Luoyan lake and renamed Yuexiu Lake in 2004. After artificial construction, it has become a beautiful Yuexiu Lake Park with shady trees and fragrant flowers. On August 1, 1981, it suffered from flood disaster. The water depth of the street was 40 cm, and most houses were flooded to varying degrees. By the end of 2005, 485 people had been employed in Xinghua Street (including 286 laid-off and reemployed people, 4 employment training courses and 105 trainees). There were 602 low-income households, 2544 people enjoying the minimum living security. There was a Christian Church and 2386 believers in the street. There are four large places for mass fitness activities in the street: Square in front of the railway station, square of traditional Chinese medicine hospital, new Qitaihe square and Yuexiu Park Square. The main activities are gymnastics, yangko dance, walking and jogging.
