Peijie town is located in the southernmost part of Xiaxian County, known as the "South Gate" of Xiaxian county. It is the reason of Jiezi, a virtuous Minister of Jin State. Yaofeng town in the East, Salt Lake District in the west, Miaoqian town and Yuwang Township in the north and south.

Peijie town has 26 administrative villages with a land area of 60.56 square kilometers and a permanent resident population of 53357 (in 2017), with an incidence of poverty of 4.47%. In 2017, the per capita net income was 7377 yuan.

Peijie town has a flat terrain, fertile soil and mild climate, with an average altitude of 510 meters and a frost free period of more than 210 days. 209 National Road and Taisan road interweave the hub, three oil roads around the town lead to villages, and 101 and 102 buses pass through Peijie.

The main industries are jujube, apple, grape, vegetable, walnut, peach, hawthorn, etc., which are characteristic agricultural towns.

Historical celebrities

In 606 B.C., Chong'er, who had been exiled for 19 years, returned to the state of Jin and inherited the throne as King Wen of Jin. He feasted on the officials and granted rewards to his followers. However, among the officials who won the prize, Chong Er, Duke Wen of Jin Dynasty, forgot to give a favor to Jie Zitui. But at this time, Jie Zitui forgot his old minister when he saw Duke Wen of Jin ascended the throne, and his colleagues were fighting for officials and meritorious service. He felt disgusted and accompanied his mother to live in seclusion in Mianshan. Jin Wengong sent many envoys to invite him, but he did not return. So he went to Mianshan in person to invite him. When Jie Zitui heard about it, he lived in seclusion deeper in the mountain forest. Seeing that he could not come back, Duke Wen of Jin had a plan. He said to his servants, "burn the plants on the mountain on three sides, leave one side for exit, and force him to go down the mountain. "But the fire burned for a long time, and finally did not see the figure of Jie Zitui. Until the fire went out, we found the burnt corpse of Jie Zitui's mother and son. Seeing this miserable scene, Duke Wen of Jin burst into tears and regretted.
In order to express his gratitude for Jie Zitui's life-saving kindness and loyalty, Duke Wen of Jin named Mianshan "Jie Shan". It is ordered that the villagers here are not allowed to make a fire for cooking for three days during the Qingming Festival every year, and sacrifice Jie Zitui in the fields at the foot of the mountain as a memorial. Later, it is called "cold food festival" and has been handed down to this day.

Area 209 National Road and Taisan Road (Taiyuan Sanmenxia) interweave into an important transportation hub, three town ring road leading to the villages, transportation is very convenient. Peijie village, the seat of the town government, is located along the national highway 209. The streets are wide and smooth. There are more than 300 Kangda markets, schools, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, shops and other industries. There is a 1700 KVA substation built in the territory, with program-controlled telephones all over the villages. The former residence and tombs of general Jie Zitui of the state of Jin are being repaired.

Construction and development

The Party committee and government of the town lead the people of the whole town to develop characteristic agriculture and advantageous enterprises based on reality, long-term vision, striving for strength, accelerating development, market-oriented, science and technology-based, and benefit oriented. --It is the establishment of five major agricultural and animal husbandry bases, including grape base centered on Shicun, Yuancun and Peijie village, apple base centered on Luyin and Xihu villages, vegetable base centered on zhenfarm, Luyin, Nanwei and Chenqiao villages, and chicken production centered on Guocun and Shuangmiao villages. The second is to establish five major private enterprises, including paper-making industry with Zhulu village as the center, Ma steel products with precision foundry as the leader, magnesium processing with Qizhen magnesium group as the leader, agricultural and sideline products processing with juxia and Luyin village as the center, and cement production with Xiaolu village as the leader. Third, the wholesale and retail markets of fruits have been established in Peijie, jijiazhuang and Yuan villages along the 209 national highway, the wholesale and retail markets of vegetables have been established in sixinzhuang and Chenqiao villages along the Taiyuan third national highway, and the livestock and poultry trade market has been established in Xihu village. Fourth, the ten thousand mu Development Zone with Chenqiao, Shuangmiao, Yao village and Dalu village as the main battlefields has planted more than 20000 trees and flowers, initially forming a new pattern of tourism agriculture with five vertical and ten horizontal lines; the road widening and greening project with the central road as the center has been basically completed, and green channels have been built, forming a beautiful landscape.
