Baima township is located in the southern suburb of Yijiang District, Wuhu City, close to national highway 205. It has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. In the territory, lakes, ponds, ditches and canals are densely distributed, polder fields are flat and hills are undulating. In 2003, the original huolonggang Town, Shiqian town and Baima Township were merged into huolonggang Town, with a total area of 114.5 square kilometers, 43000 mu of arable land, 32700 mu of water surface and 4000 mu of dry land. It has jurisdiction over 23 village committees and 2 community neighborhood committees, with a population of 69000. On September 13, 2005, the State Council approved (guohan No. 77) to adjust some administrative divisions of Wuhu: huolonggang town of Wuhu County was put under the jurisdiction of Yijiang district.
