Wu'an town

Wu'an town is located in Nanzhang County, the junction of Jingshan mountain and Jianghan Plain, overlooking Jianghan Plain in the East, Jingshan mountains in the west, Jingmen in the South and Xiangyang in the north. The new Wu'an town is a combination of the original Wu'an Town, Anji town and Liuji town. It covers an area of 415.86 square kilometers (in 2017) and 147347 mu of arable land. It has jurisdiction over 69 villages, 7 neighborhood committees and a total population of 104177 (in 2017). It is composed of Han, Manchu, Hui, Zhuang, Tujia, Bai and other nationalities.

Location structure

In the 28th year of emperor Zhaoxiang of Qin Dynasty (279 BC), Qin general Bai Qi led his troops to attack Chu, block the man river and open channels to irrigate Yan. Because of Bai Qi's contribution to Chu, the king of Qin granted him the title of King Wu'an, hence the name of Wu'an town.

Wuan Town, the hometown of ramie in China, the first town of ramie in China and known as xiaohankou (Wuhan), is located in the northwest of Hubei Province, under the jurisdiction of Xiangyang, the capital of history and civilization. Wu'an is a big agricultural town in Hubei Province, covering an area of 400 square kilometers. The area is rich in resources, with two large reservoirs of Yuntaishan and Liuwan, and more than enough agricultural irrigation. The transportation around is developed: Beijing Kowloon and Beijing Guangzhou lines run through Xiangyang. In the 1980s, Wuzhen ramie textile factory took the lead in introducing world-class advanced production equipment, and joined hands with Japanese textile enterprises to create new RAMIE TEXTILES.

The Party committee, the presidium of the people's Congress, the town government, the CPPCC Committee and the League Committee of Wu'an town are all located at 195 Yizhu Road, Wu'an town.

The current Secretary of the Party committee and chairman of the presidium are Secretary Guo Xianglin.
