Zhongpo Fort

The Zhongpo fort, built in 1868, played a role in preventing the French army from landing in the Majiang sea battle between China and France, and was later destroyed. After the war, Pei yinsen, Minister of shipping, presided over the reconstruction. He rammed the ground of the fort with glutinous rice juice mixed with concrete. It was built in 1888, covering an area of 3800 square meters, with one 210mm Krupp breech gun and two 120mm Krupp cannons. Krupp cannon was the most advanced cannon made in Germany at that time.
