Wangcun Township

Wangcun township is subordinate to Laishui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. It is located 5 kilometers northeast of Laishui County, with an area of 33.9 square kilometers and a population of 20700 people (in 2002). With convenient transportation, LaiZhu highway passes through. It is an agricultural township rich in red fruits, pears and peaches. It is known as the "hometown of forest fruits".

In March 2017, the Department of civil affairs of Hebei Province approved the cancellation of Wangcun Township in Laishui county and the establishment of Wangcun town.

General situation

Wangcun township is located 5 kilometers northeast of Laishui County in Baoding City, 90 kilometers away from Beiping and Baoding. It is adjacent to Zhuozhou City in the East, Yi'an town in the south, Laishui town and shiting town across Juma River in the West. It has a total area of 33 square kilometers, a cultivated land area of 24333 mu, 15 administrative villages and a population of 21049.
LaiZhu highway runs through the whole Township from north to south. Zhangzhu highway under construction runs through the East and West. There is an entrance at the intersection of LaiZhu road and Wangyi road. Wangyi road meets national highway 112 in the South and Wushui road meets Baoye road in the West. Since the implementation of the "village to village" and "village to village" projects in 2004, the total mileage of road hardening in the township has reached 37 km, basically realizing the village to village highway. In addition, Baoding city has buses to and from Laishui and Zhuozhou, so the land transportation is very convenient.

Historical development

In the 1970s and 1980s, the forest and fruit of Wangcun village were relatively developed, known as the "hometown of Baoding forest and fruit". The administrative villages with fruit trees account for 80% of the township administrative villages. Rich in red fruit, pear, peach. At the same time, there are more than 10 fruit processing enterprises, mainly processing cans and preserved fruits, with thousands of employees. The products sell well in China and some countries in Eastern Europe. It forms the unique industry representative of Wangcun Township in Baoding city. Become the main economic source of the masses. However, in the late 20th century, affected by the factors of economic transition, the market price of fruits declined extremely, a large number of fresh fruits could not be sold, and the deep-processing products of fruits caused a serious backlog of inventory, and the situation has not been significantly improved for many years. At the same time, the lack of technical management in rural areas and the aging of trees caused a serious reduction of production. So most people cut down the fruit trees and restored the cultivated land. The food factory also gradually closed down, and the workers had another employment channel.

Resource advantages

1. The industrial zone with glassware manufacturing as the leader has begun to take shape. Yingli and Xinde glass products enterprises have invested nearly 30 million yuan to expand reproduction, which has also led to the continuous development of Xinxing carton factory. These enterprises absorbed nearly 1000 local surplus labor, and brought direct economic benefits of more than 7 million yuan, which greatly promoted the rapid development of the local economy. 2. Make full use of sand and stone resources to form building materials production base. Along the way of Juma River, there are 7 villages in Wangcun Township, rich in sand and stone resources, and many of them are developing. The county should be reorganized to prevent waste of resources. In 1983, it was changed to township. In 1997, it covers an area of 33 square kilometers and has a population of 20000.
