New market town

Xinji Town is located in the east of Yizheng City. It is a "welcoming pine" with beautiful scenery. It has obvious location advantages, developed economy and convenient transportation. It is a new industrial and trade town in the urban agglomeration belt of Shanghai, Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang. The town is 10km away from Yangzhou, 60km away from Nanjing and 20km away from Zhenjiang. It is located at the junction of Nanjing Zhenyang industrial belt and the core area of Nanjing Zhenyang economic plate. Beijing Shanghai line, Shanghai Nanjing line, Ningtong line and other expressways converge here. Nanjing qihar railway and high-grade highway along the Yangtze River pass through the border. It is close to Runyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge, Yizheng railway station, Yizheng port, Yihua port and Yizheng automobile industrial park.

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association confirmed the new town as the national health town in 2019.

In 2006, the total output value of three industries in the town was 2.44 billion yuan, the fiscal revenue was 49.5 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 7248 yuan. Historical evolution

It is said that a long time ago, it was an ordinary village without a market town, because Zhangmuqiao was in the center of Yiyang passage. Later, some vendors set up stalls here to do business, and gradually formed a "new" market town, hence the name. Xinji township is located in Lingqiao district. In April 1950, it was divided into Puxi district. In March 1957, biansong township was merged into Xinji township.

Xinji township was incorporated into Binjiang commune in September 1958, and Puxi commune in February 1959. In January 1981, Xinji commune was set up from Puxi commune. In February 1983, Zhangji commune was set up from Longhe commune. In May, Xinji commune was changed into Xinji township. In September, Zhangji commune was changed into Zhangji township. In November 1994, Xinji township was abolished and a new market town was established.

In 1996, Xinji Town, with an area of 34 square kilometers and a population of 25000, governed 13 administrative villages including Xinji, Huayuan, Guangming, Fangqiao, Caiqiao, Baqiao, Liying, Wangying, Lianmeng, Maoqiao, Tian'an, Caixiang and Zizhu, and one neighborhood committee in Xinji; Zhangji Township, with an area of 29 square kilometers and a population of 17000, governed Miaoshan, Jiangning, Changchun, Guoqing, Huafeng, Qinfeng, Lingdong, Tangwei and Lanqiao There are 11 administrative villages, including tea farm and forest farm.

In July 1999, Zhangji township was abolished and merged into the new town.

In 2003, it governed the neighborhood committee of Xinji street and 18 administrative villages including Baqiao, Caiqiao, Fangqiao, Guangming, Huayuan, Xinji, Tian'an, Maoqiao, Lianmeng, Liying, Wangying, Jiangning, Qinfeng, Huafeng, Miaoshan, Guoqing, Changchun and Lingdong. In 2004, it covers an area of 63 square kilometers, with a town area of 2 square kilometers and a population of 41000. It governs 13 administrative villages including Baqiao, Fangqiao, Guangming, Huayuan, Xinji, Tian'an, Lianhe, Liying, Guoqing, Jiangning, Miaoshan, Changchun and Lingdong, and Xinji sub district communities.

Surrounding traffic

The town government is located in Xinji Town, 15 kilometers west of the city. In the north is hilly area, in the south is flat polder along the river, high in the north and low in the south. Yanshan River, dazhangou, xiaolongjian and Zhongxin River are the main water diversion rivers, including Miaoshan, Zhoushan and Tuanshan.
