Located in the north of Meigu county. It is adjacent to Waxi Township in the East, aqugu Township and Longmen Township in the south, tagu Township in the West and yiguojue Township and ANIMU Township in the north. The terrain is high in the southeast, with an altitude of 3064 meters. Saku village, the township government office, is on the East Bank of Meigu River and next to Chengmei highway. It is 2195 meters above sea level and 41 kilometers away from the county seat. The township covers an area of 41.28 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over five villages, including Saku, Yizhuo, erjue, Gangluo and Huagang, with 27 groups, a total of 709 households and 3301 people, including 3300 Yi and 1 Han. The population density is 79.97 per square kilometer.

In July 1956, the township was established, and the township government was Saku village. It belongs to Huagang district. On July 30, 1957, it was transferred to the third district (Wasi District). In October 1958, after Huagang, tagu and Yichu townships were merged into Saku Township, Guangming commune was established, and the commune was stationed in Saku. In 1959, it was changed to Hongxi district. Guangming commune was changed into Guangming Township in 1961. In August of the next year, it was renamed Saku township. In July 1968, the Township Reform Committee was established. In March 1974, it was rebuilt as a commune. On July 12, 1981, the commune reform committee was changed into the management committee. In July 1984, the township system was restored and the township government was established. In 1990, the total agricultural output value of the township was 922000 yuan (406100 yuan for agriculture, 115400 yuan for forestry, 247000 yuan for animal husbandry, 153500 yuan for sideline and fishery); the area of cultivated land was 4295 mu, and the total grain output was 1248000 kg. The main products are potato, corn, buckwheat and walnut. There are 523 yellow cattle, 3 Buffalo, 100 yaks, 20 horses, 2500 pigs, 1210 goats and 4210 sheep. There are 1 commercial purchasing and marketing group and 1 Bank Credit Union in the township, 5 rural primary schools with 298 students, 1 health center and 1 medical staff.
