In the early Qing Dynasty, Longtan street was the ferry of nishiha station; in 1980, it was changed from Longtan Branch to Longtan street. At the end of 2011, the total population of Longtan street was 25923. As of June 2020, Longtan street has three communities under its jurisdiction, and its sub district office is located at No. 4 Datong Road.

History of construction
In the early Qing Dynasty, it was the ferry of Jilin Post station to the East, the West and the north. In 1882, it belonged to the thrifty society of Jilin Province.
In 1936, it belonged to mishhazhan village, the Fourth District of Yongji County.
In 1948, it was assigned to Longtan District.
In 1950, it belonged to Jiangbei District.
In 1956, Longtan street was changed.
In 1958, Longtan street was changed into Longtan Branch.
In 1980, Longtan Branch changed to Longtan street.

In 1980, Longtan Street governed 16 communities, including Yunping, Huanan, Longshan, Longyun, Longjiang, Longzhu, Longxi, Dongli, Anjiang, Songhua, Jingshui, Guanjiang, Zhujiang, Dukou, Misha and Binjiang.
In 2003, 16 communities in Longtan street were merged into five communities, namely Xiangyuan, Dongfang, Qingyuan, Huayuan and MIHA.
