Wumachang Township
Wumachang Kazak township is a township level administrative unit under the jurisdiction of Qitai County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in the east of the county seat, with a straight-line distance of 23 km. It is adjacent to laoqitai town and qiaoren in the East, 109 regiment farm in the South and Xidi Township in the north, with a total area of 132 square kilometers. The township government is located in ahash hulak village. It has 7 villager committees with 8921 members (2017).
Evolution of organizational system
Wumachang, the place name, began in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. At that time, it was the fifth army horse farm of Qing army. Before liberation, it belonged to BEIXIANG district. At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to five districts. In 1958, it was the red flag ranch of Hongqi (laoqitai) commune. In April 1965, according to the administrative division, the red flag ranch was separated from laoqitai commune and wumachang commune was established. At the end of 1966, it was renamed anti revisionist commune. In 1978, it was restored to wumachang commune, and in 1984, it was named wumachang Kazak township.

Economic overview

It is located in Dadonggou at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain. The valley is opposite to the north and South Mountains. There is a long flowing river flowing westward into Kaiken river.
