Tianshan Township

Tianshan Township, belonging to Yizhou District of Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the north of Hami City, bordering Huangtian farm in the East, Hongxing farm in the south, Xishan Township and baishitou Township in the west, Yanchi Township and Qianshan Kazakh nationality township in Yiwu County in the north. The area is 2247.5 square kilometers. In 2018, 7828 people registered residence.

After the founding of new China, it belongs to Hami county and Tianshan District. In September 1962, Tianshan commune was established. In February 1983, the commune was withdrawn and Tianshan District was established. In December 1994, Tianshan township was established. As of October 2019, Tianshan countryside has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages.

In 2018, there were 12 industrial enterprises and 18 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters in Tianshan township.

Tianshan township is located in the East Tianshan Mountains, high in the north and low in the south, with an average altitude of more than 1800 meters. The highest point is tomurti peak, 4886 meters above sea level.

Tianshan Township belongs to alpine and temperate continental climate, which is characterized by cold and dry winter, windy and changeable cold and warm in spring, high temperature and less rain in summer. The extreme minimum temperature is - 35 ℃, and the extreme maximum temperature is 30 ℃. The annual average frost free period is 100 days. The annual average sunshine hours is 4320, the annual average precipitation is 175-260mm, and the annual average evaporation is 950mm.

The main rivers in Tianshan township are Shichengzi River and Yushugou river. The length of Shichengzi river is 47.3 km and Yushugou river is 35 km. They flow into Shichengzi reservoir and Yushugou reservoir respectively. The two reservoirs store 17 million cubic meters and 8 million cubic meters of water.

Grain crops are mainly wheat, corn, barley and soybean, producing 3160 tons of grain, including 735 tons of wheat, 1856 tons of corn, 393 tons of barley and 176 tons of soybean. The main economic crops are cotton, with a yield of 583 tons. Animal husbandry is mainly for raising small livestock (sheep, goats), large livestock (cattle, camels and yaks) and poultry.
